Sad But Happy About Battlestar Galactica

Recommended Posts

Glad that they are deciding to end it before it starts to suck... but I am sad that it is ending...

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The upcoming fourth season of Sci Fi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica" will be its final one after all.

After months of speculation, the show's producers are set to make the announcement at a press conference Friday.

Ending "Battlestar" with the upcoming 22-episode fourth season was a creative decision made by the hit show's executive producers Ronald Moore and David Eick.

"This show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and, finally, an end," Eick and Moore said in a statement Thursday. "Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end, and we've decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms. And while we know our fans will be saddened to know the end is coming, they should brace themselves for a wild ride getting there -- we're going out with a bang."

The fourth and final season of "Galactica" will kick off in November with "Razor," an extended two-hour episode, with the rest of the season slated to run beginning in early 2008.

Sci Fi executive vp original programming Mark Stern said the channel's brass "respect the producers' decision to end the series."

For months, Sci Fi had dispelled rumors about "Battlestar" ending its run after the fourth season.

A couple of weeks ago, one of the show's stars,

Edward James Olmos, was quoted as saying that the upcoming batch of episodes were definitely the last ones. Sci Fi issued a statement denying such a decision had been made.

Thanks for posting. Hadn't heard this.

God damn. So now that's every single current "entertainment" show im looking forward to that isnt based on a mundane setting canceled. . Lol. I guess the gods are telling me i need to stop wasting my time on non-documentary type stuff. Meanies!

Its a noble reason, but an incorrect one I've always felt was a bad one that several shows have claimed. (rarely is it the real reason anyway, its usually about money or inter-show politics)

Sci-Fi will continue probably forever. There is plenty of talent out there that can write a virtually inexhaustible amount of new material. The BG universe is vast, there is endless room for more story. How many post-apocalyptic Sci Fi stories do you think we'll read/see in the next 20 years? Plenty, and many of them very good. There is tons more room for exploration of the BG universe.

Maybe they'll drop the DVD seasons price down out of la-la land so normal humans can afford them after this last season ends. (not that i wont have pirated copies already, but fairly cheap factory-pressed & packaged stuff is nice)

It sucked from the movie onward IMO. Starbuck a girl? Human looking Cylons? I think not.

I always like the original Battlestar Galactica, good decision, also hope they don't make a new Buck Rodgers either.considering I dont watch much tv.

All good things must come to an end.

Battlestar Galactica is a spectacular form of dramatic entertainment, a space opera that likes to take a razor's edge to moral implications, and it's a hell of a lot of fun to watch. But, I am a strong proponent of epic story arcs; one extremely important thing about epics is that they have a beginning, a middle, and an end.

I don't know that I'm ready to let it go--but I'm absolutely looking forward to whatever I end up getting.

"And they have a plan."

It just burns people when they make to drastic of changes to such a beloved show. It pissed me off for a good while to were i refused to watch the show. But, after i got over my initial annoyance i realized it wasn't a rational dislike.

From the acting (except for the chick that plays starbuck shes just a so-so actor) to the effects to the stories , from a quality standpoint its probably one of the best shows on TV today. Its the highest quality current-run Sci Fi show for sure. Not that that is saying much. lol.
