Looking For A Certain Animal

Recommended Posts

im looking for a turtle w/ aquarium . I know this a strange request but if anyone can help pm me or let me know

thanks

I assume you don't mean the Teenage Mutant kind... i have some comic books about them i could offer.

Last i remember selling/buying turtles was only allowed with some crap like a note that they were for "scientific use". But that was like 15 years ago, and it wasn't really enforced even then.

I know the last time i was at Gibraltar Trade center they had this big giant aquarium with tons of baby turtles for sale.

about the only thing your going to find are painters and similar for a lot of money. my advice, instead of buying a turtle thats probably not the healthyest from a pet store for 50+ (yea you herd me) get a kick ass aquarium and cool shit for it and find a stranded one, theyll be out like crazy soon.

What does "stranded one" mean? Is that a kind of aquarium?

no i mean like the cute little turtles that you find out in the middle of no where that are obviously lost from their family. i figure that there gonna probably die anyway so why not save them!

Lol they are not lost from their family. turtles constantly wonder looking for food, a mate, a place to lay their eggs, or a safe place to hibernate. Depending on the time of year.Turtles need sandy soil that gets a lot of sunlight and, is consistently moist for their eggs to hatch.they are on the move right now. when ever i see them crossing the road i stop and run them across. they dont have a chance against a car, and it seems to me that some people run them over on purpose. Big snappers i try to push into a bucket, you've got to be careful with those they can be very aggressive. you could probably find one near any creek or water shed. even in urban areas.

the last one i had was definately lost. it was a snapper about the size of a quarter in our backyard which was miles away from water. this poor little thing was obviously dehidrated and by the marks on it, probably got dropped there by a bird. so anyway we took it in and the rest is history.

in all fairness to the snapping turtle, as long as you pick them up the right way, and hold them to where they won't snap your finger off, you can pick them up.... i've already done my turtle-saving deed of the year... snapper was walking across the road leading into Metor Park,... cars were swearving, so i convinced my cousin to go over and have a look at what they were moving for... sure enough, it was a snapper... i picked snapper up, walked it across the road, and past the walk-in path, towards the marsh area... it peed, but that was ok! as long as i didn't lose a diget, i'll take getting peed on any day.

petfinder.com

I just pulled up turtles and a bunch come up - two in Farmington and a bunch in Bay City.

I think you have to pay an adoption fee for them, they're at shelters and what not, but I have no idea what the fee might even be for a turtle.

And as far as finding stuff for them, I can usually score stuff on freecycle.org or the free section of Craigslist.

Good luck!!

PS - I rescued a snapper, but it was miles from water, so I thought it was a tortoise. My husband (the biology guy) came home and went into panic-must-save-animal mode.

He found an aquarium for it.

It wasn't an aquarium. It was a lenox china bowl from my grandmother. It was a very expensive bowl handed down through three generations that I eat out of, and now a turtle was pooping in it. He wasn't sorry.
