Eyebrows

Recommended Posts

My hair is naturally a dirty dishwater blonde, it's not something I like to flaunt. I've been dying it since middle school. I used to bleach it, then I went for reds, but for the last several years. I've gone in for deep deep brown/black with violet boosters.

When I was a bleacher, leaving my eyebrows natural was no problem, as they were just a few shades darker. But now that my hair is always so dark, light eyebrows are just a ridiculous tell. I dye them every time I dye my hair, but it's not often enough. I've tried permanent dyes, I've tried vegetable stains, I've tried it all. I'm pretty much doomed to a life of eyebrows which look fabulous for the first two weeks, then silly for the next four to six. I really out to just dye them every two weeks, but I never remember to. It's not as though it's time consuming.

I have short eyebrows - they don't start until almost the middle of my eyesocket. When they're light, they appear to be almost nonexistent. It's pretty sad. I do pluck strays, but I don't thin them out, or do any serious shaping. I wish they were more dramatic, but I'm too low maintenance to bother with drawing them in every day, plus I'd probably just wipe them off and smear them everywhere.

Oh, silliness.

Does anyone know why this is? Do eyebrows just fade more quickly then regular hair, because of the coarseness of the hairs? I suppose that because they are shorter, they have a higher regeneration rate. They probably just fall out and re-grow quickly, like leg hair.

Hrmmmm...

they just grow and fall out quicker than everything else, my advice is this, get just for men beard treatment (rediculously easy like 5 minutes and the tube will last you foreeeeever) you just mix it as you need it.. the nice thing about this is that it doesnt have bleach or nasty smelling crap in it and its even got a cute little applicator brush. theres also the fact that itll look supper natural!

i'm not usually one for brow pencils, but if you gently dab color on the skin under light brows, wouldn't it leave the impression that they were darker maybe? i have medium dark brown eyebrows, and whenever i use a brow liner they just get a little richer looking in color- redder.

I have partial eyebrows as well. I have the inner half. I'm thinking about having them tattooed, but I hear that's more expensive than getting a work of art on your arms!! So, I draw mine on with Smashbox's brow kit. Maybe one day, I'll pony up the $400+ to have them permanently inked....

But I'd rather have a pretty flower.....

I have crappy eyebrows too. Mine are blessedly black naturally but patchy and short! I use Line & Seal pencil. I get it at CVS, and it stays on even in city club in summer when I forget and dash sweat off my forehead with my hand on the dancefloor. Try it!

I have a problem with that too ... my hair is naturally dark blondish ... with wayyyy too much gray for me not even being 30 yet ... seriously, you should see my roots right now. ICK.

I dye my hair REALLY red ... and my eyebrows don't match at all.

I haven't really thought about it until now ... but I should do something about it.

Cosmetic tattooing is never cheap. I've considered asking my tattoo artist if he'll do it, but I don't think he does. There's an art to brows. They're the frame for your face. It's important that they're right.

I still want it done, though. To have the perfect arch without having to do a thing to them would be divine.

this isnt just a regular tattoo artist tho, its a lady who does nothing but cosmetic tatts, she works out of the shop i go to by appointments. thats probably why shes cheaper because thats all she does.

I have the opposite problem. Mine are always too dark for whatever color I am putting in my hair, but I'm scared to bleach them that they'll wind up too light, and I refuse to buy a separate haircolor just to color my eyebrows.

I sometimes use red or brown hair mascara on mine, and a friend of mine with naturally light brows uses black mascara on hers.

I'd love to know more....

well i just emailed one of the guys at the shop to get all of the specifics but ill tell you what i know. she does pricing by the individual and how much needs to be done or how much you want done, pretty much like any tatt artist. she does pretty much everything, eye brows, liner, lipstick, blush, you name it. i know shes been certified specifically for permanent cosmetic as well as all the other things that tattoo artists need (from the red cross and stuff) and is up to date on all of them. if you do decide to get it done she does it in a completely private room, and from what ive heard will go as far as scented candles and soothing music just to make you comfortable lol. ill let you know more when i hear back (im asked for an email or phone number since shes not in the shop all the time) so you can ask her all the specifs

I work with a woman who shaves her eyebrows.

It's weird because you almost don't notice it, at least on her, because she's blonde anyway.

But it drove me nuts for the longest time before I realised she was missing them.

She doesnt shave them completely, almost leaves like enough for a shadow.
