Oh, okay..

i turned my sound up to hear exactly what they were saying..

Jist?

across the pond the church is trying to reached "the unreached" with God's love.. they are reaching out to a scary group of people known as "goths", who are actually not so scary afterall.. and they are reaching out using goth music, and once the goths come to service the teacher talks about self mutilation and sexuality.. basically educating goths on God's love and telling them what is unhealthy..

and the other part was pop/rock church singing U2 and reaching out with that music, but same message.

so concerts, basically.

then you switch the conversation over to talking about Jesus and God's love and a relationship with Him and healthy living

that was the short version.

**takes a bow**

Bah, leave it to Yahoo or some other Internet media outlet to have their advertisement run, and then tell me that I lack a plugin to actually see the video.

I am wondering: does the self mutilation talk involve mundane piercing and tattoos or just the more edge forms of body modification?

The man talking and teaching didnt go into details.

In Leviticus you find alot of donts given to the Jews from God thru Moses. Lev 19:28 says you shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord

Webster calls mutilate: to maim, to cut off

as far as piercings go, their are places in the bible where masters pierce their servants to identify ownership.. earrings.

huh

the newscast did seem way too cursory and went quickly over everything. it would be interesting to know what they are preaching on a regular basis. and if it has any direct relevance to gothicness peeps.

the church i've started going to does a 3 song rock concert before the talk. the band is excellent. although, it seems like all 3 songs have lyrics that basically amount to: god is great. he is lord. oh holy holy. Youd think with the talent they got, theyd write lyrics that cover the pantheon of human experience. but oh well. one sunday they did a song about plastic people in a fake church. basically it was critizing hypocritical christians that go to church and make the church and christianity out to be a farce. it was actually pretty cool. today, they had 4 drummers from milawi playing along. It was amazing music.

the main pastor is really good. i don't always agree with what he says, but i usually do agree with him. this past week he got flak for saying in the sermon last week that the world was not created in actual 7 days and that christians shouldnt let blind ignorant faith from seeing truth. I've never heard a pastor say that. It was relieving in a way.

they make it a point to say church is free and i dont feel like i'm being judged and condemend for showing up in basic gothic attire and an eyebrow piercing. All different kinds of people go too. Now if they ever ask me to give up everything i own, move to Guyana and drink grape kool aid, i will be running as fast as i possible can in the opposite direction. mama didn't raise no fool.
