If you're not much younger than 20, you might actually know what the hell Bob-Lo is/was. :peanutbutterjellytime:

I myself am totally geeked, and trying to get my family to go to this with me and my husband.

I grew up going to Bob-Lo, and my sister worked for AAA Michigan when they took over the park in the 80's. For years, we went every summer.

I am SOOO Geeked. :happydance

According to this http://www.detroitriverdays.com/events.html , one of the Boblo boats will be docked at Tricentenial Park [near Chene Park] for a few months. And according to this http://www.detroitriverdays.com/bobloboat_hours.pdf , there will be tours available.

I used to love the boat ride to Boble. Too bad there's no boat ride to Cedar Point.

I'd really like to see how they're gonna get that thing running again, but I guess it's has been floating since abandoned, and we are talking Detroit where everything is possible (except building revival  , which is fine by me). I'm not sure if I'd actually wanna go on it, it's been parked, downriver of Zug Island for the last twenty-odd years. So who knows what kind of soot and carcinogenic crap is soaked into it. For those of you who have never had the pleasure of living next to Zug Island and smelling the sulfur all day and seeing orange flames shooting out of it all hours of the night, it looks something like this:

It's kinda like Chernobyl, a pretty place to look at (if you're into that sort of thing), but definately some place you don't want to hang around for too long, due to ass cancer reasons and other health issues.

i'm not sure, but I think the one you have pictured is the Columbia, not the Ste. Claire.

I follow th ehistory of the boats. The Ste. Claire is owned by a couple who had it towed to the Toledo area for a while. They turned it into a haunted boat - the tours include an optional (pay separate) visit to the 3rd level haunted house.

In my most recent readings (2005), the couple realized they didn't have the money to work on the Ste. Claire and were looking for other options. Apparently, something was done but I'm not sure what.

The Columbia is in the New York area. There is a group working to obtain funds to restore it.

Both boats have been designated national historic places. But that doesn't seem to be helping get them restored.

Ahhh gotcha, yeah I did hear something about how they sold one of the boats to people in another state. That's about as far as my knowledge goes on it, I used to be a massive Detroit history buff, but don't have much time to keep up on information. I'll be sure to check out those links though.
