Ceramic Hair Appliances

I'm going to pick up a new hair dryer today, as well as possibly a flat iron.

Should I bother with the ceramic stuff? I've never used any of it and haven't a clue if it does what the boxes claim it does.

FC, in my experience the ceramic really doesn't make that much of a difference. I've been flat ironing my hair for 10 years. I've had both really cheap and really expensive salon quality irons, it all depends on what PRODUCT I use.

They use to make this awesome zero frizz spray that worked wonders. They don't make it anymore ::sigh:: They do make the serum still which works good but no as good.

Also if you looking to make your hair straight you don't need a blow dryer, especially if you have really dry and out of control hair. It just going to make it that much more frizzy/out of control. Let your hair air dry and I mean fully dry lol.

Add your product and style. Every time I've ever tried to blow dry before flat ironing ... its a HUGE disaster lol.

Products that I've had over the years that work wonders.

KMS-Flat out

any of the Johnathan products but especially the Straigtning serum .. OMG .. works awesome.

Zero frizz - Serum (since they no longer make the spray)

Also if your hair is super fine and the serum is to heavy and leaves your hair weighed down. You can use any shine spray. They work great. They also work great for a easy touch up, if you find one section of your hair becoming frizzy again, use the shine spray and flat iron ... =)

Hope I have been some help. If you have an questions just PM me =)

I now have this straightener ... it was pretty expensive, but worth it if you ask me. I've had a few of them.

I had one that dried my hair out (also ceramic) ... this one doesn't in fact, it does the opposite. With as much as I dye my hair and as much conditioner as I use ... I can't have my straightener drying my hair out even more.

If you care about your hair being fried, trust me, get one ceramic or ceramic plated. I got mine at Sally Beauty supply and it cost me I dunno like 30 bucks. So it's not really that expensive necessarily, just wait for a sale or shop around. Spending a few more bucks is worth your hair not frizzing and frying up over time.

I had one that dried my hair out (also ceramic).

I've had quite a few ceramic ones dry out my hair, and trust me my hair is already dry! Not that I am anti-ceramic but I found what works best for me is titanium.

The reason ceramic works so well is because it has a very smooth surface, which doesn't lead to much pulling or tugging, there for breakage of hair, but since I really don't kill my hair in pulling/tugging or even gripping my hair into flat iron( so many ppl make this mistake you DONT HAVE TO HAVE A DEATH GRIP ON YOUR HAIR PPL) I don't have a problem using something else, I take immaculate care of my hair, you have to if you use heat on a daily basis.

In using ceramics you have to look out for claims that ceramic flat irons can seal moisture in the hair or repair hair, using ANY styling tool is potentially damaging due to the heat (duh). It just depends on how much heat you use, how many times a week, and how well you take care of your hair.

Play around with some things C, see what works best for your hair. Make sure to give your hair lovies =) Don't be AFRAID EVER to return something that you don't like or that doesn't work for you. Buy from a place you know you will be able to return to without a problem.

Play around with it that is what hair is for !! Most of all have fun with it!!! ::sigh:: I miss my hair!
