Really Red Eye Make-up?

Recommended Posts

So, Red & Black are my general color scheme.

But I'm having a hell of a time finding truly RED eye make-up.

Best I've found to use as shadow is a blush, but it's more of a berry color. Purply.

Anyone familiar with any companies that make truly red eye make-up? Like, shadows, liners, maybe even mascara?

Are lip pencils safe to use on the eyes?

I was on this search for forever myself. MAC has a red eye shadow right now! It just came out. I was so excited because most reds are not safe for the eye area, but this one is!

linky

It's the one called "Passionate" it looks very pink on the screen, but it really isn't. I bought mine at 12 oaks in Novi but I'm sure any MAC counter has them.

Alrighty. Looks like a trip to Hot Topic is in order.

Thanks, all.

Brenda - that's pretty cool. I'm not generally fond of glitter, but I'll keep it in mind.

Hm. One problem I have with picking up cosmetics from a place like Hot Topic is their tendency to rotate the products they carry. Here today, gone tomorrow.

I got a red eye pencil at Hot Topic that looks awesome over a black or dark eyeshadow.

I also often use lipfinity (or Maybeline Color Stay) on my eyelids. You have to apply it like a creme shadow and carefully and then sit with eyes closed for about 30 seconds to get it to dry but it dries soft, not stiff and lasts through everything.

Bill Nye eyeshadows also makes a red that goes on bright and stays put.

I had thought about trying that. As I use both Maybelline & Cover Girl's all-day lipsticks. But I wasn't sure it would look right.

Lipfinity is by Max Factor, and "Color Stay" is by Revlon. Some clarification on what you've tried?

I've used Lipfinity and the Cover Girl duplicate product. The Revlon one is craptastic IMO. LOL

The key is to BLEND it. I usually dab a few dots across the lid and then smear thaT OVER THE LID AND BLEND OUT WITH A COTTON SWAB. tAKES ALITTLE PRACTICE AND IT FEELS STICKY UNTIL IT DRIES (wow excuse caps locks! )

They also have a loose, mineral dust-like variety. i don't think that one has glitter....

I have a nice red shadow from urban decay, but I have to keep it further up on my eyelid with black eyeliner. I tried a red lip pencil around my eyes, but I learned it's not a color I can wear as eyeliner. It made me look like a zombie, and not in a good way.

  • 3 weeks later...

Urban Decay has a red liquid liner and a red powder shadow... can't remember the specific name of the liner but the shadow is "Heat" in their deluxe shadow line.

Those MAC shadow pigments come in a couple true red shades. You can find sample size containers on eBay for a few bucks.

Finally Kryolan makes a true red powder shadow, pencil liner, and I believe a cream shadow. You can find those on eBay also.
