I am not signing up. Any other way I can see these?

Hmmm. . . Well, I tried to embed them, but the bb had issues with the embed. . .

I prefer to keep them uploaded to a single location so that if I ever want to take them down I can. . .

You can look at them on my livejournal posts.

those knots are hot.. :drool

It reminds me of this cockumentry (for lack of a better categorizer for this type of movie) about fettishes/bondage and alternative lifestyles.. where they taught you how to tie the knots.. it was sexy.. mmm not that I'm really into that type of stuff, but I've always been slightly curious... hehe

Slightly curious can lead to exploration and exploration is always fun.

For knotwork in general I'd have to recommend "The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Knots & Ropework" by Geoffrey Budworth. Great book. Full color photo instructions. ISBN: 0-7607-3638-3

As for shibari specifically I'd have to recommend "The Seductive Art of Japanese Bondage" by Midori. ISBN: 1-890159-38-7

I'll post more ropework soon. :)

I think the knots and the focus on them and the body parts is cool. As a photographer, I have technical issues with the shots in terms of composition, focus and contrast. Is your intention that these are just shots to document your knots or is the whole project to produce nice images? I think there's improvement to be had if it's the latter. BTW. I don't mean to be harsh... :sofa:

I didn't think you meant to be harsh. :)

I'd welcome some greater detail.

OK... I'll use your last one as an example. Both the chair and you are oriented vertically. (Yeah.. I know... I said "vertical"... :p ) But... the photo is horizontal. It cuts both you and the chair off at awkward places and just doesn't "fit" ...even if that was your intent. It's also a little static. Sometimes tipping the camera a bit throws it off-balance and gives it a more dynamic feel.

Lighting-wise.... you're shoulder is more lit up then your face. Assuming that your head is the center of focus, the lighting should call attention to it. Likewise, the actual point o sharpest focus should be the head/face... preferably the eyes. If you're able to adjust aperture manually, try setiing it around f4 or f3.5 to get the other objects in the scene to be blurred and thus make the focus on your head even stronger. I personally would tend to try and get the lighting to dim/darken in the backround... again drawing attention to the point of focus.

That's all for now.. :-)

Wow. Thank you so much. That's a lot of detail to work with.

I'll try to take the picture again with these things in mind. :)

Ah, yes......my tendancy for bad boys. They are better in bed usually......I am working on that issue.

I was thinking the foot bondage pic would be better with no pant cuff and taken at a different angel.....further away.....?
