Rivet_HeadINC
I love being an Art Student, because I got to Interview Brute for a class project. Actually, I emailed him some questions and he responded. I feel like a little kid today. :woot:

SomeDanGuy
:woot: Holy crap I love Brute! that's awesome! I wish artwork didn't cost so much, or I'd buy some prints of his :-/
Rivet_HeadINC
I agree, but to be honest I would pay the $140 + $20 S&H for one of his works. It would be worth it.

Rivet_HeadINC
In the long Run, with the way some artists charge for pieces of their work, it is rather in-expensive.
Ginevra
For those of us that are unaware of who your idol is, does Brute have a website that we could be pointed to, please?
paradox
have you heard of KMFDM? in any event, linkage
Troy Spiral (13)
Neat that he replied to you. Its suprizing how many artists and such will reply directly. The art world isnt nearly the sea-of-fans that other "entertaining" industries are and often these guys will respond directly to inquires. have you heard of KMFDM? in any event, linkage For any that may not be clear based on that statement and the fact that i feel somehow compeled to throw my 2 cents in (and that some may be to lazy to click on links  ) : Brute is an Illustrator that does the album covers and such for KMFDM as well as other things. Positive/Negativeish (think primarly black & white , with strong well defined lines) Frank Miller-esque style art. (see Rivets profile picture also) What's the difference between an Illustrator and a "Fine Artist"? Basically for the most part its assumed that "Illustrators" do primarily commissioned works, for specific clients and "fine artists" do their own thing and tend to be more art-for-arts sake based. Most artists that your average joe have heard of are considered "Fine Artists". Rarely do "Illistrators" seem to find their names in the pop culture vocabulary, unfortunately. =( Illustrators are considered artists its just a term used to describe a more specific aspect of art-as-business and its one of those many endlessly debatable subjects. Ginevra
have you heard of KMFDM? in any event, linkage <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have indeed, but I've never actually seen one of their album covers before. Perusing the gallery in the link given, I found this one interesting because of the way that the doors of the wagon are shaped. Also, the one cop with the bandage on his chin seems to be breaking stance and looking at the "camera". Thanks for the linkage

LadyWindstone
ahhh yes those extensions. That artwork reminds me of a cross between WWII ads and comic drawings. Just me I guess.
Rivet_HeadINC
Wow, what a response. I need to add some more info to this though. a lot of Brute's influence comes from Russian Constructivism (Communist Propagand) and Italian Futureism. Both of these were art movements in the years following WWI and in to WWII. Has anyone ever seen any of the Communist Propaganda from the once super power USSR? It's just awesome.
