How Would You Choose To Die?

Recommended Posts

i would actually choose to die when i am old. in my sleep. wimpy maybe, but happy and peaceful for sure. i want to die knowing my kids grew up and were happy in life, that my family was happy to see me go cuz i was old and it was my time rather than it being something tragic.

My story wouldn't be much different from Dyno's.

Old age, still with my full facilities, in my sleep.

But if things could be really perfect, my husband and I would go at the same time, so neither of us would have to grieve. But I don't know how many couples die in their sleep at the same time.

More than likely, it'll be a Johnny/June Cash situation. One of us will go, and the other just won't be willing/able to go on long without him/her, and will follow within months at the most.

God, this is making me cry...

I would NOT like to die in the first place. But if I had to chose, I'd want it as painless as possible and fast... I think. So I guess to die in my sleep would work for me even tho most people that die while "sleeping" are really awake. I hate when people say that cuz ya gotta think about it. If someone is having a heart attack.. believe me, they DO wake up when it's happening.

So actually I don't wanna die that way. I just want it to be fast, painless and clean :)

Do any of you have a "feeling" of how you might actually end up dying? sort of a sixth sense of how?

Not exactly... But I worry something happening to me and my husband having to deal with my sudden loss.

Not that he's helpless. But I handle an awful lot of the "behind the scenes" things in our lives, and we've never bothered to put our heads together and even introduce him to ANY of it. I keep meaning to sit him down and show him stuff like how to pay the bills, vet checkup schedules for the pets, how to keep the budget, etc. He doesn't even know where any of the record keeping files are on the computer.

I don't dwell on it. But I sometimes picture myself in the hospital, or even dead, and what a crappy position it would put him in - on top of having to handle burial and all that.

Even worse, both of us ending up in a fatal accident down here, and family not finding out right away and being 700 miles away - what would happen to the pets?

Yuck. Stuff that needs to be dealt with, but SO unpleasant to act on.

perhaps because i have noone special in my life, i take a somewhat different view of that... 1st, why worry about what you leave behind? you'll be dead, and the others will manage, or won't - nothing you can do about it... 2nd, if both die, how would that differ from #1? life goes on, and life is hard - who's to say if your advanced planning is helping or hurting? maybe your significant other needs things to deal with, to occupy theri time so they don't dwell on your death? you pre-paln and take all that away, it might hurt them more... i guess what i'm getting at, is live your life - the details will work themselves out on their own...
