Good Hosting Site?

Recommended Posts

I just switched to Surpass Hosting after years of being with the same host. The only reason I switched is because my old host was shutting down the server and moving on to better things. I have had nothing but problems with Surpass. I have permission issues and internal server errors and I've made it up to the third level of tech support. It gets fixed and then a day later it's all f'd up again. I'm getting SO irritated. My site is completely down right now due to this and I've just put a new support ticket in reaming them for this.

My point... does anyone know of a good hosting site because I'm getting ready to switch already and it hasn't even been 2 weeks.

Thanks.

My ex and I just switched our business stuff over to 1and1(.com). Haven't been there long enough to have a real good idea about there overall reliability, but their customer service setting us up has been fine and so far no other issues. They also host a web site that my ex is the webmaster on... and except for some issues with getting a forum transfered over, everything seems to be working smoothly.

If DGN wasn't hosted at Invision Power Services, for specific reasons having to do with the software that runs DGN is made by them, and they will help with the 'back end' of DGN in ways that other hosts cant i'd probably go with the silly sounding, but gigantic Go Daddy I dont have a "personal" website but if i did it would be there (with the new "topics" profile system DGN basically is my blog, with more blog-like features to come in new versions).

They do shit like call you just to check and see if everything is ok, not to sell you anything. They proactively check server loads and such , rather than waiting until the customer bitches and have long had high marks in the tech magazines and review sites. Professional reviews are really the only fully accurate way to judge a host, since everyone is going to have a different "personal" experience. When a trusted site/magazine reviews something they beat the shit out of it in ways that a normal user couldn't so you get a more accurate take on what the company/service/product is actually like.

Also because they huge, your not going to have to worry about them going out of business but not so huge like AT&T were you get lost in the juggernaut.

They offer virtually every conceivable type of hosting option. A lot of hosts "look" big time because anyone can make a pretty front-end website, but they are the real deal.
