So...who Would All Be Interested?

I realize that most of DGN's events take place either in nightclub form or concert form, which is fine if you feel like hauling ass every weekend to a different venue and getting all dressed up and everything (don't get me wrong I'm a huge party monster, and love getting glitzy for no good reason, but still, pay attention). Sometimes though, I dunno makes me think we should all vary it up a little bit more and come up with different activities. Especially since when you're in a smaller setting with fewer people and less distractions we'd probably get to know each other a lot better in real life. I mean I know there's some different activities, like the picnic for instance, but I dunno I think what I'm getting at is that we need to have house parties . Or more little activities that are planned in advanced, or maybe even a "DGN night" once a month at someone's house or something. Like how many people would be willing to show up if a gathering/party were thrown? I mean this is just a "if" (seeing as I don't know what is going on in my life all the time, nor do I know if I have good cash flow coming), but see I have my house and would be willing to hold events and gatherings there and stuff. Good idea or bad idea? I mean, I could do like food and stuff and get beer and stuff (would mostly be BYOB if you could, or liquor, if you do liquor then yeah you'd be supplying what you're drinking), and there'd be free pizza in it for people. I dunno, or see here's a good one, if anybody else here on the board has any ideas for gatherings or events, feel free to post them on this thread also. Like the photoshoot opportunity, that's a GREAT idea, because it'd be all of us getting together and goofy and doing shoots outside of a club scene. So there'd be no interference, no loud music impeding what you're saying, just DGNers getting to know other DGNers in a normal setting. I dunno, I might be crazy, but lemme know whatcha all think.

Welll.....maybe not ALL of you I'm j/k, but I mean I spend all day posting back in forth with all you people, so yeah, why the hell not? And parties are awesome, and you guys rock so far from who I've seen and met, so yes...I do...?

I can't say it's bad idea, and it's one that has been bandied about before.

There is even a quasi-official DGn gathering on Fridays at someplace called the Red Apple (correct me if I'm wrong on that). The two major problems are finding somewhere that minimizes driving times for everyone, since we of the DGn are scattered to the winds (when we're not separated by states or oceans), and that we often have varied and conflicting schedules. Or maybe it's just me that has the bad schedule and I'm a self-absorbed git, I don't know.

Either way, I'd say it's a good idea, and look forward to some of the other poster's thoughts.

Pharoh has been doing a pretty good job of doing things, I havent had a chance to make it yet but definatly not from lack of interest.

I have a house I'd be willing to offer up if needed, and it's pretty central to everyone being in westland. I'm not really a party planner though, so that'd be on someone elses shoulders but I'd definatly be willing to hose the venue ;o)

Ha, see a good idea would be to have them at varying people's houses. Like the westside for instance one month, eastside the next, downriver at some point, right in the middle (i.e. Ferndale, Royal Oak, etc), and vary it up. 'Cause then we'd all have more opportunities to make it, I mean if there was an event on the westside, I would go and be able to drive, but I do know alot of others who couldn't.

If someone has a place with enough space for a bunch of kids to sleep we could make it an all day/night thing. Put the kids to bed... Parents keep partying, etc... :-) (Give the older kids movies to watch or something)

Hmmm see my condo complex is really child friendly 'cause there's a massive park right in the middle of it with the BIGGEST SLIDE EVER (no joke man, and I'd go down it with your kids because, well I was a kid and used to love that slide but now they all yell at me and shit when I try to STILL be a kid saying that "I need kids to use the park". I wanna be all "I was a kid JUST like five years ago man..." but they don't buy it. I'm not quite ready to take the kid-bearing path and jump to those measures just to be able to use the best twirly slide in the whole wide world). I also have a futon that folds out and then there's my massive bed upstairs, well okay it's a full, not like a KING sized massive bed, but I'm sure it could fit a bunch of kids. We should figure out what other DGNers have massive houses with extra bedding and fun stuff for the childrenz, 'cause we wouldn't wanna leave you parents out of the equation. (We actually have a baby in the house already, so there's child number one lol)

Also: I have DDR and will so totally pwn all of you and your kids If you guys aren't too afraid to step up

Friends and I did a big Christmas thing a couple years ago. There were 5 or 6 little girls piled onto one bed to sleep. It was funny to see them all snuggled up like that.

May also have to do with that fact that in high school I would go there in the middle of the night with my drunk friends and slide down it, and they'd get all pissed like "It's THREE IN THE MORNING! You kids get outta that park or we callin tha poe-lice!" I dunno, I'm grown up now though damnit! Anyway...oh yeah off topic sorry...so party. Yesss I might aim for something in August or September, if I can get a decent amount of people who wanna show up (no work necessary, Chernobyl's gotcha covered) and it'd be free food and all that jazz (if you wanna bring something then you'd be my hero also, 'cause stoves are not my friend. That's Raven's realm right there, Stove Land, that is). We all shall see.

You shouldn't have to do all the work. Dish to pass and BYOB is standard. Parents should probably bring whatever extras they need for their kids.

I think this is a great idea, and rotating locations would also be good. I like house parties better than clubs anyway, and the drinks are cheaper I'd offer my place anytime for a party, but at the moment I'm not sure if I'm still going to be living here or moving back to the east(ish) side yet, so I can't plan anything. If there is ever an event in the Royal Oak/Ferndale area, a little bar hopping adventure beforehand would be cool too, though not so much for those with kids. At any rate I'm down with the idea and can help if needed.

Just have to let me know in advance when and stuff, cause i've been sorta the social butterfly and haven't had much time during normal times to hang and do shit.. the only reason why I can do CC is because it's LATE at night and stuffs..

I have always wanted to host parties at my place. This is the first place I've had that would faciliate such.

And to be 100% brutally honest, I have NO FRIENDS outside of DGN due to having no social life since the mid 90's, and living out of state for a few years also really blew my social life to hell. Being a homebound (former) depressive/hermit really fucks one's gadfly leanings.

So if I invited people over, it would, pretty much, be 100% DGNers.

Two problems. My house is a dry house. No liquor is allowed. PERIOD. So I know that alone would quash hopes of a lot of people showing up.

Secondly, and again this is brute honesty, we all don't get along with everybody. There are always people in a group who don't mesh once they're face-to-face. I know people I'd invite over who wouldn't like other people I'd invite. And an open-door policy wouldn't be possible because there are just some people I don't welcome in my house - period.

I'd have to think that there are others who aren't choosing to admit they feel the same way.

Im in Canton, since I work at the IKEA there so why not have a huge-ass BBQ this summer? I mean, bring the kids and whatever, we each bring something to either eat, drink or grill and just have a kick ass time? Hell i'll bring eco-friendly paper plates and my infamous taco dip if ya want but then again, The Red Apple is right on Michigan Ave so we can do that too but I think the BBQ woudl be easier for the parents...Just an idea but let's do this thing!!

I would probably show up, but leave soon after becuase I'm not social at patries and get sick of people asking "Whats wrong". But it would be cool to try and meet more people on here since i NEVER get out to city club, last time i was there was 6 months ago at least. If something gets planned and its not to far, I would at least make an appearence.
