What Do Goths Wear When It's Too Hot...

Recommended Posts

I may be the odd-chick-out, but I actually go kinda airy-fairy hippy.

I lean toward babydoll tops or empire waist blouses made of gauzy, natural fabrics. Often patterned.

And - when I can find them in my size - "made in India" blouses usually found next to racks of tie-dye muumuus in stores cloyingly reeking of patchouli.

When the first shorts-worthy weather hits, I dump my hated jeans and put on jean shorts, and refuse to take them off until the cold weather returns in earnest come October or so.

I had to give up my Minnetonka ankle moccasins because the bottoms wore through and they don't make that design anymore. So I'm actually wearing fancy flip-flops in cute styles and colors. Unless I have a lot of walking to do - then I pull out the Dunlop golf sandals I got on clearance at Dunhams (I don't golf, but these mutherfuckers are COMFORTABLE).

It's all kinda gross.

What do you wear when it's just too damned hot for velvet, leather & boots?

A kilt. For the top either something sleeveless, a short sleeve button down unbuttoned, or just plain shirtless.

Well, for clubwear anyway. For just around town stuff, either jeans and a t-shirt or even some nice shorts and a polo. I'm rarely ever goth around town. Usually just relaxed or even slightly prep.

I don't really dress full-on goth unless I'm going out partying... this is a VERY small town & it's rare for me to go anywhere without running into a past or present student, parent, etc. I usually have a weird combination of goth/biker/hippie chick going which is pretty adaptable to temperature, level of formality, etc. In very hot weather I go more hippie chick/gypsy queen... lots of flowy batik or tie dye dresses or sarongs. Either that or African... but after 3 years of having to wear African every day at my last school, I'm kind'a over it for a while.

I wear the same thing I wear when it's cold. Black slacks of a light and airy material and some kind of button down shirt in a darker color.. usually burgandy or black... sometimes grey... I do have a few greems too...

I've never been anywhere that the weather affected what I was going to wear... We have things called heaters and air conditioners.

So you're saying that if you were going to work outside for a few hours, temperature wouldn't effect what you wore? Yer nuts... :teehee:

Weather always affects what I wear. Both weight and length go up or down depending on temperture. put on a lot when it's cold and I'm damn near naked when it's hot out. (Except for work)

I've never really thought about it (or thought of myself as a goth, actually), but I guess I just wear less in general. Most knee socks and all tights go on hiatus, and I suppose I wear my shorter skirts more, and a great deal of tank tops. This year I bought my first pair of capris, and I like them for warmer weather (for now -- I go through phases with pants; sometimes they seem like a good idea, and sometimes I don't wear them for a year). I haven't owned a pair of shorts in I can't even tell you how long; 10 years or so.

Also, I tend to chop my hair pretty short in the summer.

Believe it or not, I'm still wearing my boots in 90-degree weather. I'm just inside most of the time! =P

I steer towards jean pants, because I hate shorts for some reason. I still were pants, even in the middle of summer, but I'm more of the "Keep my torso cooled off" type of person. I'm normally wearing a tank top with pants, as often as I deem necessary.

I ditch the fishnets, keeping my arms as bare as possible. No collars, no fitted womans' button ups. I don men's button-ups mostly for evenings when it's a little chilly for a tank top but way too warm for a coat or sweater.

For airy clothing, I don my "raver pants" because they are loose fitting and wide-legged.

Occasionally, bare foot. =P

considering i went to ozzfest in '02 when it was 110 outside wearing all black, i have a high tolerance for heat. but the summer can wear on me a little. so i stick to whatever t-shirt i find around my room, sway more for shorts during the day then switch up to pants for the night life, and generally ditch the pounds of studs i throw on my arms during that day as well. i love my boots and bandanna too much to not wear them all the time so they are a constant. other than that it's just a matter of going with the flow of how i feel on any given day. don't really think about what i'm wearing unless it's going to the club or something.

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.
