Marblez
Some have mentioned a change in Torrid. I didn't realize the extent until last week when I went to GLC specifically for a stop at Torrid (Formerly - HOT TOPIC PLUS SIZE). Well, according to the workers there, all their Hot Topic'y Torrid Merchandise is now being sold/clearanced through the Hot Topic website. Torrid is now a very mainstream almost Deb type of plus size. I was extremely disappointed and if it weren't for a really good deal I got on a 2 things from their former stock, I probably would have left in tears. It seems that the demand for a plus size only HT is not strong enough to sustain itself. What now? Will they begin carrying larger sizes in the HT stores again? BIG GIRLS UNITE! This is a call for all of us to do our parts.... Don't let them force us back into moo-moos and stretch pants. Don't let them take away our fishnets, funky shoes and corset tops. Don't give up on our ability to express ourselves with our clothing without looking like a Skittles explosion! What do we need to do to be heard? Boycott? Petition? Sure, I am exaggerating a bit, but honestly, where else can we go?
Brenda Starrr
Yeah. That began about a year ago while I was still working there. A lot of the employees have left because the company is getting so mainstream. It's lame as Hell. I would suggest going to the website and emailing them repeatedly with complaints. MmeAnaya
Honestly, there isn't anywhere else to go. Supposedly HT will carry the Plus Size clothing Online Only. Sucks. Does anyone else know who carries Tripp in the plus size? (excluding HT)
Fierce Critter
I have the e-mail address of a Torrid buyer who is extremely nice to me. She has helped me with purchases for over 3 years now. PM me if you want her e-mail address, and don't say I sent you. And please be polite when e-mailing her - she really is nice, and will probably be more than willing to listen to what you have to say without the need to scream, yell or get obnoxious. On another note, where else can you go? Well, I've known about Torrid for 3 years now, have a huge goth/punk wardrobe - and have only purchased maybe 3 things from them, one of them being shoes. eBay sells TONS of plus-sized gothwear. There are good things at thrift shops if you have time to browse thoroughly and are creative with clothing. You can get very gothy pieces here and there at regular plus-sized stores like Deb, Fashion Bug, Lane Bryant, etc. And I have been to the Hot Topic down here, and they're actually carrying a pretty large selection of plus sized items, particular things like corset tops & dresses. gothicmom
YEah, I just bought a Siouxsie shirt from HT that was a size 2x. I believe they also had The Cure and The Smiths. They weren't regular box type t's, they were 80's like with the shoulders cut large. Not sure how to explain it.
Soulrev
Well I've often said there needs to be a short & fat store to cover those who can't shop at the Big and Tall store... We should all throw in some investments and start a revolution in the underground fashion industry by making clothing for everyone EXCEPT people who have perfect bodies
