Cigar Box Handbags

Recommended Posts

OK I just found a tobacco shop that sells beautiful wooden cigar boxes for $3 each. Which is 3x as much as Josh's usual shop charges (.50 cardboard, $1.00 wood), but these are the really gorgeous high-end ones so I think it's worth it. I was thinking "these are the kind of thing people make handbags out of and sell for decent $$"... so, why not? Does anyone have experience doing this? What are the basic materials needed? I've seen cigar box handbags covered in fabric and also decoupaged or painted... I would prolly want to go with the latter. I want to at least try 2 or 3 and see if they sell, so any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

If you're crafty and like LJ, check out the rest of the craftgrrl community. I'm a member but I haven't been posting lately because of time and inspiration restraints.
