Most newbies don't read these sorts of posts unfortunately as far as i can tell.

Although just clicking on their name and then pressing "send message" typing "welcome to the place" and then hitting enter only takes like 40 seconds.

Hitting "add reply" "welcome" then enter to an existing welcome post takes even less.

Not to shit in anyone's cheerios but so far the mods and others have seemed to do a good job of keeping up with member specific welcome posts, AND... as if that wasn't enough, there already was a general Welcome everyone post... why need a 2nd?

I gotta agree with Troy about sending a personal message. A new member getting personal messages welcoming them, AND seeing a welcome thread dedicated to them is like getting the lettuce AND tomatoe with a burger or sandwich... it makes them wanna bite into it more.
