i dont shop there religiously...i think the only thing that I ever bought there was a clearance T-Shirt that had Chucky on it that said friends forever...remember? I go in there when I pass it..just to see what they have...but other than that...not really.

They have some nice things...I am just usually broke as hell...even for the cheap stuff.

Hot Topic is cheap in price compared to specialty stores that sell the same stuff.

And it also exposes younger people to cultures that they may just be curious about. So rely on that store to get an identity for yourself, and then when they have jobs where they can afford better stuff, then they can buy that better stuff.

I'd still shop there regardless. They've got cute shirts. And cheaper priced body jewelry.

As for the remodel at GLC: It's called the "Downtown" model. It's meant to be bright and lit and more open. I personally like it. It's more airy than the other style. If you dont like it, be comforted that not all the stores are getting them, at least not now.

ok, the real issue I have with HT is like CC. It's not the cornerstone of our scene and there's better out there.

Cats Meow blew everything away, too bad it's gone now because everyone shopped at HT instead. Noir is on its way out too and has been for years.

I've never been able to buy anything at noir because I can't afford to spend $180 on something made out of lace and two pieces of electrical tape, not to mention it would be a crime against humanity for to -wear- something like that.

I'm saving money and the eyesight of the entire population of Royal Oak.

I hear you, Medea.

I have these little tiny locks all over my leather, and I wear a couple from my collars. I got them from gumball machines years ago for a quarter a piece.

Last time I was in Noir, I saw they had them for something like $8.00 a piece. What a rip.

Not to mention, they don't carry plus sizes. Even HT has a few items in higher sizes. Even more on their website.

Heh, is it bad that I've never bought anything at Noir?

I get most of my stuff across the street at Chrome.

You know, I was telling you the other night that I've been going to Noir for quite a while now, I can't honestly tell you that I've ever bought an article of clothing there. Hmm.. odd. I do go there to buy tickets to events.

(when you can get me into shopping) I shop anywhere, you can find tons of weird shit everywhere. Just the other day I was in Wally World (Walmart), and I saw these cute leather bracelets with skull&crossbones on them. *shakes head* oh well, nothing is sacred anymore.

Yes, their selection is quite small these days, and nothing there quite fits my style, if I can be said to have one.

I'm not too proud to buy something I like wherever I find it. I just don't find it in very many places.

Hunhee: My hottest zip-up sweater (( can be used as a shirt )) came from DEB. =3

DEB is great! They have all the same fashions in plus and regular sizes, plus I got my beautiful prom dress back in the day there on the clearance rack for 35 bucks. It was awesome.

Or in the words of Phee and Marc, it was great.

Deb's is awesome. I like shopping Charolette Russe too. They had faux corsets the last time I was in and the prices were decent. The clearance is what I go for though. But, admittedly I've found some kickass stuff in Sears lingere department that I've worn out and had many a positive comment.

Hot Topic- I'm not going to wear "key" pieces out to the club (ht dress or something that looks prefabricated as a style). However, I mix and match my pieces from everywhere to make "the look" that I aim for. I won't wear "key" pieces to clubs because, well, it lacks my creativity and screams "look I shop at HT." I don't want where I shop to be a focus, I want the image I portray to be the focus.

Threadjacking I know...I've walked past Charolotte Russe a thousand times and it catches my eye but then I think most stores like that don't carry clothing for plus sized women so I don't even bother. My question is, do they carry a full line or is it just a few items here and there?

You know, HT is what it is. It is no longer goth, as it had originally portrayed itself to be. The company had to change it's face to keep up with the ever-changing music scene. It may not be YOUR taste. Sorry. Too bad. Boo fuckin' hoo. It doesn't seem to stop a lot of you from coming into the stores and picking up a lil' something here and there. Not EVERY item will appeal to EVERY person EVERY time. That applies to ANY store, any company, ANYwhere.

A lot of us who work for them don't like the brightness that Great Lakes Crossing offers. I haven't even BEEN in that store yet. I just know that it isn't what I'm accustomed to. But knocking the store or the company is silly. We're sorry it's not your taste. It has become parent-friendly, which brings in the cash and keeps us employed. They donate to charities. I personally oversaw donations to The Judson Center's Autism Camp (VERY near and dear to my heart), and another downtown-based charity. They have the Hot Topic Foundation, which helps schools that do NOT have arts programs to GET arts programs.

Yeah, it's sad that we're not so goth anymore, with the exception of Halloween (pathetic, I know). If it bugs you that much, don't shop in our stores. And if you must, just stay out of those brightly lit ones....... :wink
