Here's a store with some of the nicest dresses at reasonable prices I've come across. They sell up to a size 20 US, and also a few items in 1X.

i've always found "affordable" and "Gothic Lolita" to be oxymorons.

i have searched on ebay and have found some goth lolita dresses for $34. Good deal if i may say so.

It depends on what you want it for. If you want to just have an interesting costume for the club or something...then just buy whatever you can find cheap. They'll probably sell some....interesting creations in the halloween stores in a couple months even.

If you want a real lolita dress, stay away from the Chinese sellers on ebay. They will be poorly made, not fit right, have visible ugly seams, horrible plasticky scratchy lace, shiny rough polyester fabric, etc etc.

Buy something well made. You won't regret it. It will cost you. But it's worth it.

The dress you pictured is Metamorphose. They ship to the US. They are a nice brand. Their things are average price for "brand". Their website is metamorphose.co.jp. They're nice. I have many things from them.

Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Angelic Pretty, and Innocent World also ship to the US. I implore you to take a look at all of these brands and decide what style you want before you start looking at cheaper places. Not only will you know what you want more, but you will also be able to see the difference in style and quality. (Keep in mind though that most of the ebay sellers show pictures from the brands, then make a shoddy replica of said dress in approximately the same style with vastly inferior fabrics and workmanship, so what you see is NOT what you get from those.)

If you are interested in commissioning, you can find people who will make you a custom dress to your interests, style, size, and choices. If you go this route, I hope you would be willing to pay a fair price - sewing is a time-intensive enterprise and you have to expect to pay a decent wage for the hours put into the garment, plus the fact that fabric and trims are simply not very cheap either. You CAN find people selling skirts on etsy for $35, but often the quality is poor. These girls are not making any money for themselves, so either their quality is not worth any money or they don't value themselves enough. XD Basically...you usually get what you pay for. I make and sell some items myself, but I would never sell anything for $35. It pains me when I see it. XD
