Muh Truck

Recommended Posts

If you need a truck.. Get a truck. But 9/10's of people who own them could have something way more efficient considering how they use (Or don't use) them. I had them when I needed to tow the race cars, but otherwise, I can't stand driving them and they're usually gas hogs.

All my stuff is getting moved by movers. I duz not need a truck. Tanks for the thought though... :-)

Gaf,

if yer doin an engine swap, howz about a V8 instead of a V6 ? The gas mileage of a V8 S10 shouldn't be that bad, (unless you were to do something drastic like stuff a big block in therewhich ive seen done) its worth it IMO.

DBK,

I do intend to make my way out there again some day, and yes sooner then 500yrs from now.

Marc,

you are totally right. A whole bunch of us truckerz, well I reckon we don't rightly need a truck. But right here in this here thread, I'm fixin to share with ya, why I gots me muh truck;

A lot of people,

aboot a coupla years ago when I was in the maaaahket for a veeehicle,

said they could see me drivin a truck.

So,

I thought about it.

Decided they were right.

Then I did some research on them and decided to go for it.

I busted my ass for about a year and a half to get this here truck.

Any and all overtime/extra shifts @ work that I could get,

I got.

So why did I buy myself such a big expensive vehicle,

If most of the time,

all its doin is haulin My ass everywhere ?

Simple.

I'm single,

with no kids,

I don't know if that's ever going to change,

I work really hard for my living,

I decided I deserve something nice to drive.

The gas mileage is not horrifically abysmal; but it is Not a Honda! lol

I travel alot instate for work, and can usually go about 5 days in between fill ups.

While to alot of people,

that would seem horrible,

Consider these factors: its a 5000lb truck & I put at least 100 miles a day on it during the workweek.

The gas prices have been falling alot here lately, which for that reason alone, has cut my fuel expense noticeably.

This truck is the most expensive vehicle Ive ever owned, but its also the most useful, enjoyable vehicle Ive ever owned.

Yeah, its got a hemi.

Oh and we only live once, so we have to make the most of it while we're here...

you've been here ?

Yes... not to the exact spot your truck was photographed (lol) but I had visited Connecticut several times many years ago when I was in a relationship with someone who was transferred there. Spent a weekend in the Hartford area, other than that I mostly visited the Danbury area where he was living. (I think it was Danbury?)

I drive a Ford Ranger sport series, I hauled all my worldly goods cross country w/ it and since a few friends. I love driving my bosses big f150 extended cab and jump at the chance to drive my dad's old Dodge. And I hope to one day own my dad's old '42

When Estranged Hubby Rick & I got our first truck (Ranger XLT with amazingly lame 4 cyl), people told me "once you get used to driving a truck, you won't like driving anything else". They were right. I feel really unsafe anytime I have to drive a car... altho I know that, say, Tokagemaru's Volkswagen Jetta is actually "safer" than my Ford Explorer... it sure doesn't feel that way. When I got White Grrl the idea was that I'd be selling antiques on eBay so I wanted something I could easily haul stuff in. Well, that didn't happen... and White Grrl is a horrific gas hog... and I'd much rather have a nice little Tacoma or Ranger...

but I still wouldn't want a car. Altho the Honda Element looks like something I could maybe tolerate. I just like knowing I can drive over curbs if I need to.

all that said... it does annoy me to see doddering old men driving giant-ass F-350s... and all these people with Hummers who have never even seen an unpaved road... vehicles are happier if they're used the way they were meant to be, at least occasionally.

I've seen V8s in a S-10 or Ranger too. My cousin has a S-10 with a 427 stuffed in it. I don't need that much power. The engine I am looking at is a supercharged v6. Chevy's 3800 to be exact. A v-8 would require way more modification than the 6 will.

ok. I was thinking more along the lines of a stock, fuel injected 350 is all.

Nah, most people on the road, aren't phased at all by my big black truck.

Hauling stuff is one thing I like, but the visibility for driving is soo much better then in a car; I can see the road and surrounding environment alot better. The very responsive gas pedal comes in handy sometimes too..
