Man In Mess Of Trouble Over Junk In Yard

Man Sentenced To 60 Days In Jail

POSTED: 9:08 am EDT August 23, 2007

CAPE ST. CLAIRE, Md. -- A Maryland man has been sent to jail for having a dirty yard.

Officials said they tried for seven years to get George Hartsuff to clean up old boats, crab pots and other debris in his back yard.

Hartsuff was jailed earlier this month for not obeying a court order last month to clean debris from his yard.

When authorities returned after giving Hartsuff 30 days to clean his yard, they found junk including an Arizona Iced Tea vending machine in the yard.

A judge sentenced Hartsuff to 60 days in a county jail.

If his yard isn't cleaned up by then, he could face more jail time.

lol....thank you American judicial system for another example of your money making ways....It's all about keeping people in jail as long as possible...cuz alot of people don't know this...but you are charged for your jail stay.....about $30 a day....and if you don't pay it....they will arrest you again....and rack up the cost...so that guy doing 60 days...he is gonna owe the jail

anywhere from $1600-$1800.

now....thats ON TOP of what jails garner from everything else...like about $28 a day per prisoner--from the county they are located in, about $18 a day per prisoner from state goverment, and another $32 a day per prisoner from federal...so...they just made an average total of : $6,360 just on that ONE GUY for his stay....kinda makes you want to open up a jail in your back yard, huh?

and...if it's planned right....jails are on of the best money makers in the world....Mark Hackel..Sheriff of Macomb County, OWNS the land the jail sits on...so he gets extra money for that from state and ferderal....his wife owns controlling interest in the "vending company" that supplies all the commisary for the inmates....money there...the juice and milk they get...comes from "Sunshine Farms"....owned by...wait...Mark Hackel....$$$....and all the food....comes from Hackels giant ass farm up state...more $$$

And people wonder why every inmate says jail is crooked....

You forgot the extra awesome $3 a day they make if they work. I don't know if it's even that high.

except thats what you get "paid" by the county...thats not what they are making off you.

and thats goes on your commisary...and if you leave with money on your account, money that you earned in jail...they keep it...they tell you it goes towards your "bill".

so here is my idea....

I'm gonna get some dog cages for my backyard, put roofs on them..and cement them about 6 feet into the ground.

I will then get some people that have done "crimes" and lock them in the dog cages.

I will then charge them $15 a day and feed them hot dogs and beans.

You forget to add too that once you've been in the system, it's next to impossible to get out. I mean ANYTHING goes wrong in the area (or sometimes not, they'll actually make up shit to pin you with sometimes) and you have no lawyer you best bet that they'll throw you in jail anyway. Doesn't matter if you did the crime or not and it should be shocking that this happens much more than anyone would LIKE to believe. They'll literally constantly be looking for you for the rest of your life and pinning you with things you didn't do, bringing about court costs, lawyer fees, probation fees, etc etc. The list goes on. Public safety has NOTHING TO DO with keeping the public safe (how many times has a cop pleased you instead of pissing you off?), it is ALL about money and that's that. It is easily the most corrupt system in America, it has nothing to do with "right and wrong" or "good or bad" it's about making money and letting the people who HAVE money off the hook.

You wanna know how my friends get out of it? What they'll do (and you wanna do this if you go to jail) is that when they release you they try to do anything in their absolute power to get you to sign one form - an agreement that you'll pay the jail fines. Don't sign it. Walk the fuck out. There's legally not SHIT they can do, but you bet that they're gonna try to keep you there and TELL you you have to sign it (kinda like in interrogation rooms), blah blah, and lie to you (yes cops CAN lie to you legally and blatantly and as a matter of fact it's encouraged) saying that they can throw you in jail if you don't, etc. Whatever they tell you or try to get you to believe, don't put the pen on the paper.

    • ~~~~~ Yeah, thank you for the check-in.   Happy to say it was all a misunderstanding.  But she pulled out her "ghetto" and that's when things went South.  I get very professional minded when I enter into situations like that because when someone starts bring the court into conversations, I'm in court 2 times a year, every year, so don't go there with me because I will get legal all over you.   She did try to change what she thought she might have said, but I had to call her on it because it's all in written text.  Then she apologized and we were able to have a decent conversation.   I know I joke about me talking so much that people don't hear what I say except for keywords that they are looking for, but that is exactly what happened here.  She heard "payment", "money" and "help out".  It was crazy.  I literally had to have the entire conversation all over again, but I definitely condensed it to only address those 3 words.   Things are back on track, but I emphasized that if she every needed clarification for anything, please say something first instead of jumping to conclusions, then questioning that conclusion, then answering that conclusion, then getting upset at the answer and taking it out on someone who doesn't have a clue what the San Juan Hill just happened.   But this is exactly the reason I do everything with a paper trail.

    • I'm glad  that yesterday's day at work is long gone now. There was a very strong unusual energy that I felt, and couldn't get done with the day fast enough. It wasn't  the job at all. I just felt like I really needed to keep my mouth shut, to keep me from getting in situation(s) that probably wouldn't have ended well for me.
    • You can trust anyone you want.  The only question is whether or not they're deserving of that trust. No risk = no reward.  As such you have to let yourself be vulnerable sometimes and realize that all people will let you down eventually whether it's intentional or not.  The frequency that it happens is what's important.
    • Sorry, I don't check this as often as I should. Anyway document everything (although it sounds like @Trene4000already has been from her post.) It's okay to cry and break down, but not in front of them.  Never give them the satisfaction of seeing you crack.  If anything I'd go out of my way to piss them off, but I don't like being that guy either (and as such I'm not very good at it, except sometimes when I'm not intending to be.) I try to only help those whom deserve it, but that's often hard to judge.  Seeing how someone treats other people is a pretty good indicator of whether or not they're worthy.  Sociopathic narcissistic asshats are very much not worthy. I hope things are going well for you guys.
