Favorite Old Stuff.

Recommended Posts

Just kind of wondering, who else likes to buy stuff that is either older, or at the very least somewhat retro styled? I'm talking about things that range from the everyday household items like a fan, or one of those old school lamps that you used to see in offices (the ones with the green shroud covering the lightbulb), an old leather rifle sling, or maybe an old Coleman oil lantern. Anything really.

When I go hiking with a pack I like to use an older issue U.S. military alice pack and magazine pouches for my gear. A lot of my rifles are using leather slings with brass hooks. I was floored a couple of months back when I found an old lantern in my grandmother's workshop that works just fine, all it needed was a new wick. I even like the sound of older keyboards, like what was described in a recent thread by Headwreck.

What's your favorite cool old stuff? Or are you a fan of the newer plastic fantastic stuff that is on the shelves today?

It sounds like you've collected quite a few cool things. The only old things I have are some antique pieces I inherited from my Grandfather. A couple pieces of furniture, an old china tea set, and an old bell. I will also inherit some pre-World War II china that belonged to my Great-Grandmother. Otherwise, I am generally all about newer things as long as the quality is there.
