When Stress Goes Too Far

Last few days have been really stressing let alone almost went off at work.even though I have a somewhat fucked up

heart condition,I was able to control myself,considering if I did go off in a rage the only thing that would have gotten hit was the P.O.S. machine that I run since it is an old relic.I work with some really wonderful people,and the last thing I want to do is hurt anyone there,since they respect me 100%, but with all the bs going on lately sleep has been the main deal in relieving it.because I hate stress,things like bills and a sick relative,have been the main factors,all I can say is some really good weed sounds good right about now.mayby its time to vanish for a long time, from everything and reality,have not made the decision yet.

Get rid of my hubby. (no laughs, j.k.) or Am I. *wonders aloud* oop, ya'll weren't supposed to hear that . :biggrin: But seriously, I try to take one day at a time. I don't want t go soooo fast that I end up

in the ER or worse. Too much stress is not good on the body, mind or soul. Trust me when I say that. 18 & a half

years age my best friends dad keel over from a massive strock just minutes after I got off the phone with him. The man was only about 62 at the time. This happened on Mar. 1989. The stress of running a family was running him ragged & after all the years it finally got to him.

I constantly have so much stress caused by family members, people who are close, people I don't know, friends, bills, school, not feeling like I'm achieving enough, not doing anything to try to achieve, being nagged, being told that I'm crazy, situations (i.e. having to evict roommates, having to not talk to my own cousin and ex best friend ever again), basically everything, the thought of getting old, the thought of dying some day, the fact that other people are doing the whole "starting a family thing" which is another thing my life that will surely end up alienating me just like not fitting in when I was a kid (I'm opting out of the children thing, I hate kids), the fact that I don't feel happy doing the things that used to make me happy, etc.

Everyone pray that I make it past 30 but if I don't it's not so big of a deal I guess. Nobody will have known I was here anyhow and if I don't make it then hopefully I won't be under stress anymore (hopefully, because we really don't know what happens when you die. Could be a whole dimension of nothing but stress if you really think about it).

I hear ya loud and clear. Thats why I kick all drama causers out of my life.

I have this:

An arrhythmia (also called dysrhythmia) is an irregular heartbeat. Heart rates can also be irregular. A normal heart rate is 50 to 100 beats per minute. Arrhythmias and abnormal heart rates don't necessarily occur together. arrhythmias can occur with a normal heart rate, or with heart rates that are slow (called bradyarrhythmias -- less than 60 beats per minute). arrhythmias can also occur with rapid heart rates (called tachyarrhythmias -- faster than 100 beats per minute). In the United States more than 850,000 people are hospitalized for an arrhythmia each year.

What Causes an Arrhythmia?

Arrhythmias may be caused by many different factors, including:

Coronary artery disease

Electrolyte imbalances in your blood (such as sodium or potassium).

Changes in your heart muscle.

Injury from a heart attack

Healing process after heart surgery.

Irregular heart rhythms can also occur in "normal, healthy" hearts.

What Are the Types of Arrhythmias?

Premature atrial contractions. These are early extra beats that originate in the atria (upper chambers of the heart). They are harmless and do not require treatment.

Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs). These are among the most common arrhythmias and occur in people with and without heart disease. This is the skipped heartbeat we all occasionally experience. In some people, it can be related to stress, too much caffeine or nicotine, or too much exercise. But sometimes, PVCs can be caused by heart disease or electrolyte imbalance. People who have a lot of PVCs, and/or symptoms associated with them, should be evaluated by a heart doctor. However, in most people, PVCs are usually harmless and rarely need treatment. .

Atrial fibrillation. AF is a very common irregular heart rhythm that causes the atria, the upper chambers of the heart to contract abnormally.

Atrial flutter. This is an arrhythmia caused by one or more rapid circuits in the atrium. Atrial flutter is usually more organized and regular than atrial fibrillation. This arrhythmia occurs most often in people with heart disease, and in the first week after heart surgery. It often converts to atrial fibrillation.

Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT). A rapid heart rate, usually with a regular rhythm, originating from above the ventricles. PSVT begins and ends suddenly. There are two main types: accessory path tachycardias and AV nodal reentrant tachycardias (see below)..

Accessory pathway tachycardias. A rapid heart rate due to an extra abnormal pathway or connection between the atria and the ventricles. The impulses travel through the extra pathways as well as through the usual route. This allows the impulses to travel around the heart very quickly, causing the heart to beat unusually fast.

AV nodal reentrant tachycardia. A rapid heart rate due to more than one pathway through the AV node. It can cause heart palpitations, fainting or heart failure . In many cases, it can be terminated using a simple maneuver performed by a trained medical professional, medications or a pacemaker.

Ventricular tachycardia (V-tach). A rapid heart rhythm originating from the lower chambers (or ventricles) of the heart. The rapid rate prevents the heart from filling adequately with blood; therefore, less blood is able to pump through the body. This can be a serious arrhythmia, especially in people with heart disease, and may be associated with more symptoms. A heart doctor should evaluate this arrhythmia.

Ventricular fibrillation. An erratic, disorganized firing of impulses from the ventricles. The ventricles quiver and are unable to contract or pump blood to the body. This is a medical emergency that must be treated with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation as soon as possible.

Long QT syndrome. The QT interval is the area on the electrocardiogram (ECG) that represents the time it takes for the heart muscle to contract and then recover, or for the electrical impulse to fire impulses and then recharge. When the QT interval is longer than normal, it increases the risk for "torsade de pointes," a life-threatening form of ventricular tachycardia. Long QT syndrome is an inherited condition that can cause sudden death in young people. It can be treated with antiarrhythmic drugs , pacemaker , electrical cardioversion, defibrillation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillator or ablation therapy.

Bradyarrhythmias. A slow heart rhythm due to an abnormal SA (sinus) node. Sinus node dysfunction is treated with a pacemaker.

Sinus node dysfunction. A delay or complete block of the electrical impulse as it travels from the sinus node to the ventricles. The level of the block or delay may occur in the AV node or HIS-Purkinje system. The heart may beat irregularly and, often, more slowly. If serious, heart block is treated with a pacemaker.

What is low blood pressure?

Blood pressure is the force exerted by circulating blood on the walls of blood vessels, and constitutes one of the principal vital signs. Blood pressure is generated by the heart pumping blood into the arteries and is regulated by the response by the arteries to the flow of blood.

By convention, an individual's blood pressure is expressed as systolic/diastolic blood pressure, for example, 120/80.The systolic blood pressure (the top number) represents the pressure in the arteries as the muscle of the heart contracts and pumps blood into them. The diastolic blood pressure (the bottom number) represents the pressure in the arteries as the muscle of the heart relaxes after it contracts. Blood pressure always is higher when the heart is pumping than when it is relaxing.

Systolic blood pressure for most healthy adults falls between 90 and 120 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). Normal diastolic blood pressure falls between 60 and 80 mm Hg. Current guidelines define normal blood pressure as lower than 120/80. Blood pressures over 130/80 are considered high. High blood pressure increases the risk of developing heart disease, kidney disease, hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis or arteriosclerosis), eye damage, and stroke.

Low blood pressure (hypotension) is pressure that is so low that it causes symptoms or signs due to the low flow of blood through the arteries and veins. When the flow of blood is too low to deliver enough oxygen and nutrients to vital organs such as the brain, heart, and kidney, the organs do not function normally and may be permanently damaged.

Unlike high blood pressure, low blood pressure is defined primarily by signs and symptoms of low blood flow not by a specific blood pressure number. Some individuals may have a blood pressure of 90/50 with no symptoms of low blood pressure and therefore do not have low blood pressure. However, others who normally have high blood pressure may develop symptoms of low blood pressure if their blood pressure drops to 100/60.

Yesturday I just got too deep in meditation during a fast so my electrolites and potasium, salt...and calcium were low....and it set off the irregular heart beat. I had to get up move around, eat some jerky and drink tomato juice.....

I don't even allow myself to get upset usually and.....pot makes heart problems much worse. Dont use that. I have cut way back cause its making it worse. Usually if I go too deep for too long in sleep or meditation my blood presure gets way to low then it sets it off. Kinda weird since its suppose to help....but the combo I have is just a bad, strange mix.......thanks to my mum. I get it from her.

Doctors are always surprised when they test me I can get it to almost stop (beating totally, they ask me if I am a runner lol) by will alone.....but it usually makes it beat funny.

I'm in the whole non-kid thing too, so you know one person you can always relate to on that standpoint. It's not that I hate them, they're just not for me, but I have noticed this does alienate you from a HUGE portion of the population. I used to relate having kids to joining a cult. .those people are brainwashed. haha.. You want added stress, add kids, although with your whole roomie situation, that's enough stress as it is.

stress is definitely the enemy. *sighs*

The human body can endure way more than most people give it credit for. What is stress to some is just everyday life to others. Most of what used to cause me "stress" before I went to Iraq just seems meaningless now. Anytime I start feeling "stressed out" I just remind myself that at least they aren't mortering us today. It somehow puts things in to perspective.

The human body can endure way more than most people give it credit for. What is stress to some is just everyday life to others. Most of what used to cause me "stress" before I went to Iraq just seems meaningless now. Anytime I start feeling "stressed out" I just remind myself that at least they aren't mortering us today. It somehow puts things in to perspective.

It's ALL about perspective.

My friend served in Iraq, and somehow came back a more cool, calm and collected person. He also now thinks he's bulletproof, a rather dangerous assumption to have about one's self, but still, calm, cool and collected.

I'm in the whole non-kid thing too, so you know one person you can always relate to on that standpoint. It's not that I hate them, they're just not for me, but I have noticed this does alienate you from a HUGE portion of the population. As for stress..... i find that it shows in me often by not being able to sleep. Then, i have to do something for myself to take a small 'brain vacation', either treating myself to something nice and diverting, or doing something else like a movie, new music, whatever.....
