Crazed Vampyress
I now realize its been a while since I was on here last. *grins*So Crazed Vampryess, have you any thoughts on your living arrangement? well i dont have the money to just up and move right away. I am currently looking through listings for other apartments in my area to see what is available. I also wrote the landlord a letter expressing once again all the issues with the apartment, listing the items that I brought up previously that he has not addressed, and telling him that if he expects my rent to be paid in full, I expect these items to be addressed immediately. Being the penny-pincher he is, he has in the past looked for the cheap/easy way out so theres a good chance we can haggle the rent hike down a bit because I will be demanding he fix literally anything and everything i can find wrong, hundreds of dollars worth of repairs, and I will continue these demands as long as my rent hike is in effect. Also later this week when I have some time off work I am going to go down to the library and look up what exactly are the laws/my rights as a renter. I have not yet begun to fight! In the end I need to move. Im ready for a nicer apartment anyways. this was my first apartment by myself and i do love it (even though its a shack, its my shack, lol) Even if i manage to haggle down the rent hike, we'll just be going through this again next year. The problem is that it really does cost a lot to move. I should look into finding a roommate and renting a bigger place.
Kit Kat P
if it makes you feel any better our rent prices are about 700-900 for a small one bedroom and we don't make as much in CA as people seem to think, actually I've made more in both VA and MI

I also want to say that, in my opinion, if at all possible, I think you should skip the roommate idea. The endeavor of living with a roommate, can be good sometimes. However, and I speak from my own experience on this, it can be very stressful too. With a roommate, you have to contend with: not knowing if he/she will always have their half of the rent when its due. if they flake on you and don't have their half, You have to foot the bill of the total rent for that month. then there is privacy concerns, will they eat your food on you, steal your stuff, money etc. I just wanted to put that out there. Having a roommate Can be good, but taking that risk, whether That is good or not, is debateable I think.
SpidersMoment
Rent Soundtrack Lyrics - Rent Lyrics MARK How do you document real life when real life's getting more like fiction each day? Headlines - bread-lines blow my mind And now this deadline "Eviction - or pay" Rent! ROGER How do you write a song when the chords sound wrong, though they once sounded right and rare? When the notes are sour Where is the power you once had to ignite the air? MARK And we're hungry and frozen ROGER Some life that we've chosen ROGER & MARK How we gonna pay? How we gonna pay? How we gonna pay? Last year's rent? ROGER How do you start a fire when there's nothing to burn and it feels like something's stuck in your flue? MARK How can you generate heat When you can't feel your feet? ROGER & MARK And they're turning blue! MARK You light up a mean blaze ROGER With posters - MARK And screenplays ROGER & MARK How we gonna pay? How we gonna pay? How we gonna pay? Last year's rent? COLLINS How do you stay on your feet when on every street It's "trick or treat" and tonight it's "trick" "Welcome back to town" I should lie down Everything's brown, and uh-oh I feel sick MARK Where is he? It takes guts to talk and demand change from a landlord. It's really costly to move, but in the long run, you'll be much happier. I kind of agree with creature of the nyte, roommates have their pros and cons. If you do decide to go with a roommate, make sure you know them really well and that you can trust them. My boyfriend let someone move into my house, without my knowledge or consent, and the guy turns out to be a nightmare. Attitude galore. So be careful with that. ~V
Crazed Vampyress
yea.. on the topic of roomates... ive had my share. this is actually the only apartment ive had where i lived alone. i know how roomates can be. ive had some gruesome and some great. i also know what its like to live with me and have been a pretty good judge who id be great and who id be gruesome for. i love living alone. there are only like 2 people i know who i could see being a roomate with. neither of them are currently looking for a roomie, though. So most likely ill end up on my own wherever it is i end up. thanks for the feedback!
AstralCrux
My mortgage payment is around 650 a month in Southfield. I opted out of renting b/c it doesn't make sense to me. However, if you look into buying- have a large surplus of money saved up and preferably know a decent amount about home repair (in my case make dad do it). TygerLili
I don't know anything about real estate in the Mt Clemons area, but for a place in Oakland county where I live, with heat included, that sounds reasonable. If you don't like it, though, why not at least look for something else that's more to your taste? Our old apartment in Southfield was reasonable enough, but it just got to the point that the conditions were so gross I didn't care how much money we were saving anymore. I actually wound up crying in the district mangers' office because I was so miserable there I just couldn't stand it anymore.
Homicidalheathen
How high is too high? Anything in Michigan, thats what. Why the hell do you people want to live here??? Maybe even 1000 since it was a 'security building' lol you have to pay for some fat ass slob to sleep in front of a monitor while you get mugged out in the parking lot lol Its cold here, baaad transit system if at all where you are..... cost of living, high. Crime, high. Dirty.....garbage everywhere......smog........not as bad as AZ but there is some, most of it blows to Canada....wave high! The only cheap apartments here are in bad areas or areas with no work. I ask, why the hell do people want to live here??? The weather sux ass.....people are mean and rude......I just don't get it.
