One Of You.....

Steven

Recommended Posts

One of you...

told another one of you...meaning one of us...

that if you were to meet me...

I would not like you.....

because of your past, as if I am somehow above you.

and today I DID meet you...

and I liked you.

alot.

and you stood in my home and I hugged you and I hope to see you again....you are welcome here

now for that other one of you who had something to say about me and decided to speak for me as if you could possibly think for me.....

Not only were you wrong but you were rather short sighted.

Which simply means that you dont really know me.

But if you'd like to know me, or sit at a table across from me, then please by all means ask me, and I'll meet you anywhere you want, anytime youi want, and I'll tell you anything you want to know about me.

In the meantime, you just be you...thats a big enough job

and I'll take care of the me part, because your not qualified.

Enough said.

I dont know you but you know who you are and you know what you said.

So have a nice day.

I did.

Reminds me of my first visit at City Club after returning from 3.5 years in North Carolina.

Someone came up to me, introduced themselves, and after enjoying each other's company for a while, they admitted to me that someone else had told them they shouldn't meet me in person, that they wouldn't like me.

That's lovely. Especially considering the only people I had met in person from this board prior to moving south were Troy, Scary Guy, Spacin', and a couple people who haven't been on DGN since it switched from being the Spiral Board.

I highly doubt it would have been any of those people. So whomever decided to warn this person against meeting me had never met me in person themselves.

I love it when people make up other's minds for them. Sarcasm, of course. But I honestly do appreciate when people choose to figure things out for themselves, rather than go solely on the opinions of another. If someone asks me what I think of someone else, I will be honest with my true opinion. But if I don't have a particularly favorable opinion of someone else, no matter how negative my interactions with them have been, I will tell people, "...but there are others who do get along with him/her, so you really should decide for yourself."

regardless of what I thought I understood about "somebody" - I'd never stoop so low as to try to influence someone away from interacting with another....I'd never say or insinuate anythign even remotely akin to "dont hook up with them"....thats for you all to decide one on one who and what you like about whomever, your all big boys and girls.

not only does it disrespect me (I lived upon hearing this and then afterward I had a rather lovely piece of fried chicken), but it really disrespects the person you made that delivery to....in essence your almost saying to THEM that they lack the werewithal to make a cognizant decision on their own and therefore you'd better intercede for them.....nice.

I dont know who it was Camille, I was not given a name and I can respect that because it would make the person uncomfortable .... but I have a hunch its someone I've invited to meet with me before....

and like I said before...YOU know who you are doncha now?

Wow if this weren't a semi witch hunt type topic. Geesh, it even made my skin crawl especially since I had just recently watched a true movie on the inquisition.

I'm sure the person whom you're referring to didn't mean it with malicious intent. People just like to give their opinions WAY too freely.

I think it's important that people make their own judgments about other people. There are people on this board who don't know me. Who have heard things about me and judge me on the things they've heard. They don't take the time to get to know me themselves and it's their loss.

When someone says something to me about other people I do a couple of things. I take into consideration who is saying it. Then I keep an open mind when I meet the person who was mentioned in prior conversation.

Anyone who has an opinion of you who has never met you, Steven, is missing out. Their loss.

:)

um....no, I think there was prolly some good old maliscious intent in there or else why bother?

still like i said, the fried chicken was lovely and thus so was my day....

Meeting someone in person is the real test.

I would rather meet someone myself and lean about them myself.

Because, it really is funny, after learning the facts about someone you meet from talking to them in person,

to go and let the naysayer know that they were/are full of shit.

IF, the naysayer was right, well then that'd be on me, but making your own assessment is still the best way to go.

Well I guess thats what I like about you. Even though we are very different you except me the way I am and although we have yet to meet......we still like each other.

Its too easy to pass judgement on what people just type online....its like talking to someone in 1 dimension. Not 3.

true true......you know when you get to a topic, even if its a passionate one...its still a topic.....

there is also the "me" part of the equasion, or the you part.....

and yes we do dig each other even though we are seemingly way different......

I do not agree w/ everything you say or even how you sometimes say it, but I have thought on several occasions that it would at the very least be entertaining and enlightening and most likely enjoyable.

Steven, forgive me for this minor threadjack. I have met several people in person from here and have had several conversations both in person and online and I will say this, there is no way I could tell anyone to avoid anyone. Everyone I have met I am proud to say I did meet. While I won't go thru a list I will say this much. Steven is one of the most honest, straight forward people you could ever meet. I enjoyed our conversations and found what I believe to be is a new friend. I can truly say I have not been disappointed with anyone I have met from here. My only complaint is that I haven't had the chance to spend more time with any of them. I always look forward to the chance to hang out with those I have met and look forward to getting the chance to meet those I haven't met yet. Again I apologize for the minor threadjack.
