Just curious if someone can make some suggestions on where a guy can find some decent looking boots ?

Best pair of boots I purchased were used canadian combat boots and those things lasted me for 3 yrs of constant use. . . unfortunately they had to be retired the soles wore down and the screws were starting to come out.

Thanks,

Hi!!!

If you dont mind ordering online, there is a place in the UK that I order from. HIGH quality. They take a few weeks to come because they are custom, its called Pennangalan Dreams...

pennangalan.com.

They are around $200.00 american dollars (after shipping is included, which is pretty special for custom footwear.)

:))

If you're talking Detroit area, your choices pretty much consist of:

Hot Topic - companies like TUK and Anarchic actually make knock-offs of their expensive lines to sell through HT. The quality is questionable. But my husband and I both have boots purchased from there, and they've been fine for us.

Noir Leather, Royal Oak - they carry some Demonia, some Docs, some other brands. IMHO, I think they're overpriced. You can get the same boots online for less.

Showtime, Detroit - they carry a lot of lines, but they carry the real McCoy. EXPENSIVE. They have a decent selection of creepers.

That's pretty much it. I highly recommend going online. Ebay in particular - you can get absolutely fantastic deals on new or nearly new, good brands.

If you are looking for basic combat style boots, there is harry's Army Surplus in Dearborn. I bought a nice pair of Bates for around $70. Zipper on the side which is nice. And what surprised me was that they were comfortable to wear from day one. Actually didn't have to break them in.

Is there any place in the Detroit area that sells POINTED TOE boots? Like winklepickers or beatle boots?

You might check out Showtime, but I've only been there once and specifically was looking for women's boots and men's creepers, so if they had any, it didn't register.

I know they didn't have any at Noir or Hot Topic.

Pennengalen as mentioned above has the best selection of that type of boot, they actually list them as winklepickers. IMNSHO, probably what I would consider the more classic punk look than stompy platform boots. I LOVE guys in those boots & shoes. :drool

Yeah Harry's Army surplus is one of the best places for combat boots... I bought a pair of Corcoran paratrooper boots 3 years ago for 120. I have worn them daily and they still have tread left. I have never owned a better, more comfortable boot. My New Rocks only lasted 10 months before self-destructing. I can't speak out against them enough. Try Amazon.. i have bought several pairs of the real leather, buckle, steel toe demonias through different stores. Like the above boots but slightly different...

There's a shop at Gibraltar Trade Center in Taylor that sells pointed toe boots. While most of them would be considered cowboy boots, there were some smooth leather ones there also. Worth checking them out.

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.
