Oh yeah Disown (the band that played The Ritz last night) is playing TONIGHT at Mephisto's.

Just thought I'd mention it since they do an awesome job of advertising here

They're also playing Saturday at the Labyrinth.

I will say they don't suck live, in fact they were quite good.

I even went out with Jeremy and Rene and they liked them good too.

What makes you say this sweetie?

Cause I noticed CC has no ramps either........what makes you think Meph doesn't like the handicapped?

They have an elevator..

That's actually against the law not to have things ADA compliant. They have specific rules on this shit. The only reason why I know is because when I worked for a certain restaurant chain (construction), they were working toward this (being ADA Compliant), because of a string of lawsuits they got involved in.

That is true.

If you don't SEE handicap-accessible entrances and whatnot, ask. If they don't have them, they're breaking the law.

Not if the building is so old that it's not easy to do. The building Mephisto's is in was built in the 1930's without an elevator or any easy way to put one in.

"Does my 20-year-old building have to be accessible? Isn't there a "grandfather" clause?

There is no such thing as a "grandfather" clause under the ADA. Pre-ADA buildings still have to make modifications to their facilities, this is called readily achievable barrier removal. The definition of "readily achievable" is without much difficulty or expense. For example, it may not be reasonable to put in an elevator in a two-story building, but it could be reasonable to provide accessible parking and access into the facility."

Also if you really wanted to take your baby to Mephisto's that was actually doable since you're the legal guardian (though it probably wouldn't have looked very good).

Brenda I think it's open season on the Friday dancer spot. However if you want to be nice you could wait till she actually tries out. Or do it before someone else gets the spot.
