Is It Creepy To Go To A Bar By Yourself?

Hey I have a question,

Most of my friends don't go out much, and those that do don't tend to like to go to 'goth' type bars. So this always leaves me scrambling to get a group together to go out on the rare weekend I have off.

So here is the question:

Is it ok to for a guy go to the bar alone?

I know there is always the memorable or exception case where one person (stalker-type) is hovering around. What I'm asking here is if you see someone alone, does that instantly equivicate to 'creep'.

Just wondering....

Not always, but I am usually that guy (I have no friends) so I know where that guy is coming from. But fuck what other people think, go and have fun. If you see some people you know (or get to know other random people) even better.

Easiest way is go somewhere with a pool table and challenge people to pool.

If you're referring to CC, go!!! there's always a lot of people from DGN that are there. It's like an instant group of people that you may have not gone with, but they will welcome you as soon as you arrive especially if you introduce yourself. I call CC the Cheers of the goth scene. :) *hums theme song in head*

I think someone had mentioned before that you should put a picture of yourself as your avitar, and maybe someone will recognize you if you're too shy to introduce yourself to the crowd.

As for other bars, I have a huge group of friends, I tend to go to those events by myself. but for just any random bar, I don't do those at all by myself. I don't know if it's creepy for a guy to be out by himself at a random bar, but I always thought that guys who go to places by themselves, are on the prowl... you know for a quick hook-up. *shrug*

i have weird friends... some underage. some dont drink. some only drink at home. this leaves only a small amount that actually wanna go to the bar, so i tend to go alone. i only go to a couple, i know people there from going before, but even if no one i know is there its nice to sit and drink somewhere other than home. but im also one who goes out to eat alone, has gone to the movies alone, i almost always shop alone....

I don't think so. But then again, just earlier this week I was treated like a freak of nature for thinking it okay to drive to a show in Detroit by myself, with the intention of meeting a friend there (who was the one who thought that was just the weeeirdest thing she'd ever heard of), so I'm probably not the one to ask.

Im not a very social creature, in fact im quite the opposite, so I like to go alot of places alone, concerts, clubs, what have you. Usually I only bring someone in case something happens and I get hurt (I get into a lot of fights...i dont know why)

If you're going there to meet people and/or be social, no.

If you're going to sit in the corner alone, drink and gawk at people, yes.

My two cents...

But (at least) City Club is the perfect place for drinking alone and gawking at people.! So many people go to CC to 'be seen' as much as any other reason.

    • ~~~~~ Yeah, thank you for the check-in.   Happy to say it was all a misunderstanding.  But she pulled out her "ghetto" and that's when things went South.  I get very professional minded when I enter into situations like that because when someone starts bring the court into conversations, I'm in court 2 times a year, every year, so don't go there with me because I will get legal all over you.   She did try to change what she thought she might have said, but I had to call her on it because it's all in written text.  Then she apologized and we were able to have a decent conversation.   I know I joke about me talking so much that people don't hear what I say except for keywords that they are looking for, but that is exactly what happened here.  She heard "payment", "money" and "help out".  It was crazy.  I literally had to have the entire conversation all over again, but I definitely condensed it to only address those 3 words.   Things are back on track, but I emphasized that if she every needed clarification for anything, please say something first instead of jumping to conclusions, then questioning that conclusion, then answering that conclusion, then getting upset at the answer and taking it out on someone who doesn't have a clue what the San Juan Hill just happened.   But this is exactly the reason I do everything with a paper trail.

    • I'm glad  that yesterday's day at work is long gone now. There was a very strong unusual energy that I felt, and couldn't get done with the day fast enough. It wasn't  the job at all. I just felt like I really needed to keep my mouth shut, to keep me from getting in situation(s) that probably wouldn't have ended well for me.
    • You can trust anyone you want.  The only question is whether or not they're deserving of that trust. No risk = no reward.  As such you have to let yourself be vulnerable sometimes and realize that all people will let you down eventually whether it's intentional or not.  The frequency that it happens is what's important.
    • Sorry, I don't check this as often as I should. Anyway document everything (although it sounds like @Trene4000already has been from her post.) It's okay to cry and break down, but not in front of them.  Never give them the satisfaction of seeing you crack.  If anything I'd go out of my way to piss them off, but I don't like being that guy either (and as such I'm not very good at it, except sometimes when I'm not intending to be.) I try to only help those whom deserve it, but that's often hard to judge.  Seeing how someone treats other people is a pretty good indicator of whether or not they're worthy.  Sociopathic narcissistic asshats are very much not worthy. I hope things are going well for you guys.
