Face/body Shading/skin Creation Help?

I didn't know how to title this shortly.

In Second Life, you can apply customized "skins" to your avatar to give it real special looks. There are appearance settings available, but for real flexibility, you need to either purchase or create your own skins.

Here is what the photoshop file for a skin looks like, having used available templates:

This is the face template:

This is the shading on the face template:

This is a template for the upper body:

This is a template for the lower body (I already adjusted the hue for this one):

The one for the upper body and lower body are sufficient for my needs. I can adjust the hues as I need to, and make other changes as I wish. It has some seam problems, but I can work on that in photoshop.

The face one, well, that's the one I'm having trouble with. The other ones were created by a graphic artist. But she outright says she's not sharing the face one 'cause she's saving it for herself.

I've searched google to death. I can't find any kind of graphic - much less a ready-made template like these - for face/head creation.

The shading that I show above doesn't really work. It's too much of an overlay, and not really very well detailed, especially the ears. There are decent examples out there of ones people have created from photos of themselves, but that won't work for basic "from-scratch" work like I need.

Anyone know of anything out there I could use? I hope I've been clear about what I need.

It's for some other game that uses avatars like this. But they're really small, and not necessarily adaptable to the SL format.
