Might Actually Pay For A Cat Next Time

Recommended Posts

Look for a mutt cat that looks like these. They are fairly common and become floppy rag kittys the same way. For that matter, any cat will if it's handled A LOT as a kitten. Case in point: I've never had a purebred, and all of mine have been "ragdolls". That breed is one of my favorites though. They have such seweet looking little faces. :)

Not true overall.

Two of my cats were raised in my home from 2 weeks on, and the rest from mostly around 5-7 weeks.

Every single one was handled a lot as kittens, and the number who like to be held and cuddled is actually less than the number who prefer to be at arm's distance for petting.

I do believe breed has something to do with it. But cats are as individualistic as humans. Nature or nurture go out the window when their inner selves come to play. I didn't teach Ripley to be an attack cat that switches from cuddly sweet to biting bitch in an instant, nor did I teach Fletcher to crave my attention so madly, he won't leave me alone even when I'm sleeping.

I've seen ragdolls at cat shows, and both Jon and I fell for them. (Yes, Jon goes to cat shows with me :swoon ) The breed overall does really seem sweet. We've talked about getting one ourselves someday. But we generally don't like to pick our cats like we pick our shoes. Once our current dozen drops in numbers closer to 1-2, any new cat brought in will be brought in by need basis - and we're leaning toward cats with special needs. (Hate thinking about the "number of my cats dropping," but future decisions will revolve a lot around that.)

:w00t::w00t::w00t::tongue::sorcerer:

have you ever looked into purchasing a little pink kitty.....they go for about one billion i believe

My kid saw this and wants the one with white paws.

And I understand about getting attached to strays....at the moment I have 3 adopted throw away types. My man is happy I am sticking with the animal variety for now as humans get expensive lol.

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.
