Okay, Im happy with my physical appearance, I just want to lose the weight to be healthier. I love my curves, however, my heart, in the long run, will not. No one has ever complained about my body, except me. I carry myself with the highest respects. No man is going to belittle me, especially when he is bigger than I am. (Not that I am accusing anyone here of that, I'm just saying.) I agree that 500 lbs is a bit overboard. I love me, and how I look. Me losing weight isn't about how I look, its about how I feel... I may weigh 205 lbs, but I can almost get both legs behind my head, and have really strong legs. I will never be a size two... Hell, even at my smallest, most healthiest weight, i was still a size nine (that was at 135) big ass and big tits is something that I will never escape, nor would I want to. Its one thing to not prefer a big man, or bog woman, as a life partner/sex partner, its quite another to belittle us. This was for ppl that are proud of their curves, to offer support to us that want to lose the weight, and to prove that we are just as beautiful, if not prettier, than a size two.. hell, everytime i see a model, i wanna hand her a fucking cheese burger.... i hate super skinny... its not healthy... and to those that belittle us, its ppl like you, that make ppl like us commit suicide, every year. Instead of insult us, help us. I love me, and no one is going to change that. You can not perfer my body size in your bed, but once you figure out that I can still do that thing that you like, even at my size, you will change your tune :p so, fuck you, of you don't like me, because i weigh 205. there are better ppl in the world that will love me for who i am, but wanna back me up when i wanna better myself. You dishing out insults, and complaining that you are fat, when the rest of the world see's differently... don't piss off a bunch of fat chicks... we will smother you with our fantastic curves, and big boobies!!!!!

I'm not ignoring it at all, rather I'm posting because of this. As for ignoring your scholarly references, that's because I know better and I don't trust anyone. Here's a study I can get behind since the bottom line is a longer life. http://www.jr2.ox.ac.uk/bandolier/booth/hl...g/BMIwords.html Actually I'm wrong, the bottom line says "E Calle et al. Body-mass index and mortality in a prospective cohort of US adults. The New England Journal of Medicine 1999 341: 1097-1105."

Here's an abstract for an article, can't post full-text link as not everyone will have access:

AAOHN Journal 2007 Apr;55(4):143-50.Links

Health at every size: a compassionate, effective approach for helping individuals with weight-related concerns--part I.

Robison J, Putnam K, McKibbin L.

Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, USA.

It would be difficult to overstate the urgency that U.S. government and health officials have placed on the dangers posed by obesity. Given the increasing numbers of individuals being diagnosed as overweight and obese and the emphasis on the contribution of weight to health and disease, it is critical that all health professionals examine the validity of the claims being made. A thorough examination of the research literature does not support the claims that overweight and obesity are major causes of premature mortality, excess fat is pathological and a direct cause of disease, and weight loss is practical and beneficial to health for most individuals. The literature also does not provide any significant evidence-based support for current approaches to weight management. In fact, it suggests that these approaches may likely be doing more harm than good.

PMID: 17472129 (PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE)

And a few more links:

Lower mortality in older people who are overweight. By about 11%

Mortality risk for overweight veterans 35% lower

BMI is not intended for the use it's been put to. It was intended for very broad statistical purposes, meant to be used as a simple means of classifying sedentary individuals with an average body composition. It doesnt take into account people with mesomorphic, edomorphic, or ectomorphic body types.

Personally, I put overall health in a much higher category of importance than weight loss. Weight and weight loss is an unreliable indicator of a person's health, and in the case of the non-standard body types i mentioned it can be extremely misleading.

Dieting has been shown more and more recently to be detrimental to your health. Permanent changes to how you view foods and why you eat are more physically and psychologically healthy.

But call me sensitive or insecure, but this thread has pretty much ruined my day. Shitty Shitty fucking people.

Oh, but they're trying to help!

We all should feel greatful for their selfless, sincere concern, right?

Goodness gracious. What would the world be like if it weren't for such kind, thoughtful, concerned angels, there to tell everyone what is and isn't acceptable/attractive/right&wrong?

Nothing but good intentions spoken there, right?

Damn, I'm so glad I've been set straight. I'll get to work on my husband now and do my damndest to convince him he's wrong to find me attractive/sexy/desireable. Hope it's not to late to save him from his delusions. Poor guy.

So I thought I was done. Almost done I guess, I'll just respond to thing directly aimed towards me.

When - WHEN - has picking on people ever - EVER - helped "improve" someone? This is an incredibly clueless statement. Picking on someone may make them harder, sadder, more self-loathing than they may have been before. But it doesn't make them feel better, improve to please you, or any of that total, assinine bullshit.

Just because you call it clueless does not mean it isn't true. It's actually incredibly effective at getting people to conform or leave (not that this is my intention here). The same thing is done at City Club by our kind to the tourists. They either come back and try to fit in or they don't come back. That's one theory anyhow, and it's not a very popular one among us nerds for obvious reasons.

And it's not YOUR FUCKING PLACE to "help" where it's not asked for, or to decide someone needs your input because you have a problem with someone else.

But but but I'M BRINGING DEMOCRACY TO THE THREAD! GO AMERICA!!! But seriously I felt the need to throw in my two cents. After all this is a forum and all opinions are welcomed as long as everything is civil, which I most certainly have been. Also 135 is a size 9 on a woman? Seems a bit low for a 9, i figured it would be higher. I guess dress sizes really are screwed up.

There is SUCH a difference between stating your mind and bullying. I would think you, of all people, would be sensitive to that. But maybe I've given you waaaaay too much credit in the past for sensitivity. Maybe I've defended you to others and been a fool for doing so. No more.

I'm done. Ignore activated on both of you now. Seriously. If you respond here, unless it's quoted by someone else, I won't see it.

Well I'm sorry you feel that way, but ignoring me is basically saying "I don't like what this person says (even if it might be right) so I'm not going to listen, LALALALALA*hands over ears*LALALALALA" and that's not very mature of you.

I read everything everyone says, just in case they may be right or it may be important.
