What Did You Get/give For Christmas?

Recommended Posts

Posting this now because Jon couldn't wait to give me my presents, so I already have an answer. :)

We had decided to forego buying each other gifts once again this year, because I desperately needed a new computer, so we went and bought me one a couple weeks ago. But Jon didn't want to leave it at that, so he went out and bought me presents the other day.

He still has a couple to give me on Christmas Day. But yesterday, he couldn't wait. One thing he got me is a really nice dagger, very gothic in design, black and silver with a very nice hilt. I've always wanted a dagger, and he thought that since my Second Life character has a really cool set of weapons, I should have one in real life. That was very unexpected and cool. Wish I could strap it on and wear it to CC.

The other is a beautiful, diamond snowflake necklace. I had seen it about a month before Christmas, and fell in love with it. That's what he was going to get me if we exchanged gifts, and when we went to get the computer, we stopped in at the jewelry department (Sam's Club) and saw that the snowflake was gone anyway. But he went on his own and had them get one in from a store in Colorado. That's a super-romantic gesture on his part. I really love snowflakes, and this one was just perfect, not over-the-top and really a nice replacement for the rhinestone one I bought at Fashion Bug a decade ago and have been wearing. This is also the very first diamonds Jon has bought me, technically. So it's a double-whammy of romantic.

Jon doesn't know it but I went and got him a pair of Tony Hawk skate shoes today, which I'll give him when he gets home tonight. For Christmas Day, I got him this drinking glass that has a mixer built into the bottom for making Hershey's chocolate milk. He's a Hershey's chocolate milk fanatic, and I thought this would be a cute gift.

Tomorrow, Christmas Eve, is when my immediate family gets together. Jon made all of them wooden boxes with wood-burned and colored pencil designs reflecting their interests & personalities. The one for my mother is actually a purse. I got them all silly little "stocking" gifts as well, this is the first year I was able to do so - my sisters usually buy everybody little silly toys and stuff to open after the main gifts are exchanged.

I feel really really bad because this year I literally have NO money, it's even hard paying my bills and putting food in the house so I couldn't really buy for people. What makes me also feel kinda guilty is that fact that I've gotten alot so far:

I got a new computer (which I'm on now obviously )

I got tons of stuff at work 'cause I'm a secretary, like I got a snowman night light, a picture frame, and tons of eatables.

I got a cool kinda SOFT fleece throw blankey from my dad's side. It's pink and black like you could tell they probably got it from Hot Topic, but what I think is so cute is that even though they're like country bumpkin normal folk they still tried to cater to my tastes the best they could.

Uhmmm they also got Raven a pair of glove mittens, like really good ones, which he needed.

$20 from my father

Apparantly getting more stuff from momma

Possibly something from Raven's mom (I think she mentioned one of those visa gift cards, I can finally paint my house!)

Also my bff Lisa says she found something from our childhood that is sentimental, which is going to be my Christmas present, so actually I'm curious to see what it is. She says it's something that I forgot about, but will remember when I see it.

Uhmm the only person that I am buying for this year is Lisa, she's kinda girly and she gets a little hurt if we don't trade gifts even if she doesn't say so. She's a party monster like me and loves Jager (especially Jagerbombs) so I'll probably get her those little mini bottles (like the one shot ones, I can't afford a whole fifth) with like two things of Red Bull and like a shot glass that I think she would like.

After the ring, Bean said I'm all done with gifts for awhile

But, then I got her 4th row Manson tix, so now I have Christmas and birthday wrapped up (concert and b-day are in February)

BUT, she said she wanted to get into Judaism (considering converting--I told her to keep her sanity but she won't listen) so I got her a ceramic chanukah candy dish, menorah, the Everything Guide to Jewish Weddings, and chanukah cookie cutters, and that night we watched Fiddler on the F&%*ing Roof, the Jewiest movie of all time.

And I went to Julian Bakery in RO and got a whole bunch of yummy fattening things we shouldn't be eating, including a cake to bring to her parents for Christmas dinner.

And I took her out to a nice Chinese restaurant and a movie on Christmas Eve, a Jewish Christmas tradition.

(How's that for a contradiction?).

We ate at Shangri-La in West Bloomfield (I think-I'm still getting used to all these f%$#ing Detroit suburbs--

we found it by driving aimlessly through pretty neighborhoods with overpriced houses until we found the first nice Chinese restaurant. )Then we went home and saw No Country For Old Men at the Main Art Theatre.

Our family was easy to shop for.

I have no family.

Bean has her parents.

That's it.

Her parents needed a DVD player, so I bought a nice SONY one.

I told her she's starting grad school, and that will be the present our family could have.

But she still wanted to do something.

So, in addition to unpacking boxes at my place that I never bothered to, and doing all my laundry, and giving me endless advice on how to properly deal with my ex (She IS in psychology, after all)

...she gave me head.

I'd say we broke even this year. :respect:

I might order boots online despite my right foot being a whole size bigger than my left......unlike most people who are just the opposite.....wish I was still in Pheonix cause there was a guy who worked in a shoe store who knew someone with the opposite and we had the same taste in shoes......and we used to switch through him.

I am loving the plaid platforms on demonia boots.

Must have them. Must.

Other than that I got a hard time mostly lol

Just kidding...well not really...just glad its over since most of the work falls on my shoulders.......I hate this holiday.

I overspent on my daughter, as usual. She has many, many things, but the one thing she received was what she really wanted... a Casio keyboard with all the bells, whistles, sound effects, etc. She hasn't stopped playing it since she opened it.

So far I've received a cute card from Marc along with a photoshoot offer both with and without my daughter! Yay!!! and I also received a surprise gift of a necklace and earrings from my daughter. The surprise about it is that my ex-husband's new girlfriend insisted on buying it for my daughter to give to me. Very sweet of her, very kind and generous, and very unnecessary, but greatly appreciated. My daughter was beaming while watching me open it. She was quite happy and pleased, and that was the best gift of all.

We haven't opened anything else yet as I am getting the Turkey in the oven and getting the dinner preparations moving along....

i got kicked out of my warm comfy bed (i loves my bed, its a sin to get up)

some more cash to help the car replacement fund. load of new sweaters ets which werent really me, but are warm, so valued. but a few nice books, and some stuff for the car (a power invertor that will fit in a cupholder rather than the boot mounted box i have)

my sister

I gave her a 2GB memory card for her pone with an adaptor for photo printing booths (she's allways filling her phone up with pictures of her son) and a £20 gift voucher for HMV (she shops there quite a lot for anime and asian cinema)

my Mum

I got her a new rotary cutter. her old one is an industrial jobbie (wieghts about 3 KG and cuts an inch deep) and since she no longer sews for a living and the arthritus of the shoulder she cant lift it, so a bosch xeo seemed ideal

my dad:

ugh, worst person to shop for. so the last bourne film for his collection, and the X Men trillogy.

his birthdays on 27th....

Update to earlier post:

I received two pairs of flannel pj bottoms (sooooo soft), a Godiva coffee sampler package, a small box of Godiva truffles, and a very soft bathrobe. Comfort, comfort, comfort.... aaaaahhhhhhhh! The only think that could have made this day even better is if there had been Killer Rabbit slippers from ThinkGeek under the tree to go with the rest of the comfy stuff!

It would have been nice to have a cute brunette under my tree this morning. If I had a tree.

Scratch that. It would have been VERY nice to have said brunette snuggling in my bed with me. You know which one I'm talking about, right? ;)

I got the best holiday presents ever, I have the piece of mind that those I love are safe, and doing as well as could be.

I didn't get world peace this year, but I'll hope for next year (I do this every year). For me the most important things in my life cannot be bought or put on credit, the smiles I get from friends and family are all genuine and caring. That to me is priceless. :)

You guys are definitely a part of the "friends and family" group. Thanks again DGN. I honestly don't feel I can thank you enough. :)

AND thanks Troy, for everything :)
