Fierce Critter
I have experienced that spreading Vitamin E (take a gel pill, cut it open & squeeze it out) can speed up healing. But my only true experience with that was burns on my arms. It did help them heal much faster, and helped lessen scarring. But super glue was, I hear, created as a fast field bandage for the army. heh. I used it the other day on a bleeder on my finger so I could make dinner without bleeding all over it, and so that I could wash my hands often without dealing with a soggy bandage. It worked great, and felt good after the initial sting. As for the location, just behind the ball of your foot, you could try finding a type of shoe that would take the weight off the arch of your foot for a while. I have a pair of old aerobics shoes that have higher sides around the perimeter of the foot so that you're not slamming down on the center. Somethign like that. How in the world did you do that to yourself, HW?
Head Wreck
erm... could be related to liquid filled mini blisters that apear down there. i live in a pair of bvoots or a ankle support and shoe. so methinks i may be halfway to a case of trenchfoot... oops... Fierce Critter
You need to invest in better socks it seems. Urg. You're on another continent, so I can't recommend brands. but there are ones here called "wick away" or something like that that soak sweat away from the foot to the outside of the sock. I'm probably preaching to the choir here, though, you've got a lot more experience in military-type advice on taking care of feet than I do probably.
