Name Brand Labels......

Recommended Posts

Personally I hate them. I would turn away from a purchase just because if the name brand label is too big, I think it is too showy......I don't want to be a walking billboard, and I think it is a bit pretentious.....like, look how much I paid for MY boots......you know?

Besides the fact its usually ugly anyway.....like a huge nike' label.

so I didn't buy these boots....even though I love the swirly fuzzy pattern........but I hate the R!

Rocaboots

Also, even though they are winter boots.......I would wear them all year. I don't care so much about what season its for either......do you pay attention to 'in season' styles or do you do your own thing like me?

There are a few designers that I seem to be really drawn to... meaning that when I'm at Marshalls or another discount store, their stuff is the stuff I innately pick up. I'll buy a designer piece if it fits well and is what I want and it is on sale, but I won't seek them out.

I don't wear logos, and I don't wear clothing with words unless it's a band t-shirt. But like Nienna, I do go for certain designers when outlet/discount shopping, and if I had the money I'd do it a lot more often.

I couldn't care less about what is in "season" though. Dressing in season means wearing warmer clothing in the winter in my world.

i agree. i have always felt this way. i hate labels on anything. i go so far as to [sometimes] peel labels off of other things even (candles, lotions, etc... i have no idea why, just something i do sometimes  )

i will pass up purses, pants, shirts, shoes if they have a visible label on them. any label. the only labels i never minded were dr. martens and converse.

when i was in 8th grade my mom's friend gave me some guess jeans and i HATED that they said guess. i wore them, kind of had no choice, but i always made sure i wore a shirt that covered the label on the back ;)

I can't stand the lable thing, either.

As for the Roca Wear stuff, they carry a LOT of Roca Wear at discount stores like AJ Wright. I know this because I shop at stores like that, and there are a LOT of RW and Baby Phat and Apple Bottom's clothing in the plus-sized section. Not that it matters, but these happen to be labels owned/named after black celebrities & businesspeople. While I can't stand the big lables, I do appreciate that these people are filling a need for stylish clothes for us larger chicks.

But I can't stand advertising for someone else. And while I don't have a problem with wearing clothes that the sistah's and brutha's wear, I'd really rather they drop the big huge logos off the clothes and let them sell for the cute, sassy designs they are themselves.

One exception I made is my skeleton hoodie. It's a black hoodie with a full-body skeleton design in gold with a red, glittery heart where the heart should be. Even the hood has a skull on it. I would have preferred silver to gold, but it's so borderline goth I couldn't pass it up. It's by RW I believe, and I think the heart has RW on it. No matter, I'll still wear it 'cause it's so unique.

HH - a tip. That R on the boot appears to be embroidered, right? I've often cut the stitches on embroidered stuff right off. A little fluffing of the fake fur on there and you shouldn't even be able to tell it was there. Alternatively, there are lots of great geometric patches & appliques available at stores like JoAnne's, Michaels and even Wal-Mart that you could apply right over that.

I really dont see what the big deal is with labels, its the company's product right? they should be able to slap whatever they want on it right? no one is forcing you to buy them. I never had a problem with labels if I like it im gonna buy it if I dont I wont.

I wear what i look cute in. I dont like those shirts that say the brand across the front because i am not a billboard. I like Calvin Klien tights and i usually only buy them because i like the pale colors. Beyond that if it looks cute on me i will wear it. i have found some bargains that i love and wear all the time. I won't not buy name brand stuff because it is name brand. I just don't like the name on the front. I run into people who think they are better then me because i got my T-shirt at Walmart and they got their's at Abercrombie. Those people are Meanies.

On another note i just went to rainbow with a friend and bought so much stuff for 50 bucks its bananas!I got two pairs of shoes, a sweater, a teddy with a matching thong, a school girl skirt, a scarf hair tie thing, capris and three shirts. I love bargain shopping.

I don't wear labels either. If I like it, I will wear it. I wear them because they're either cute, or comfortable. Especially shoes, if they're not comfortable, they're not worth it, no matter how cute they are. If my feet are miserable, then I am too.

Usually I have pretty expensive shoes on, but they don't have overbearing labels on them. I wear born sandals in the summer time, doc martens in the winter, and I also have an afinity for Rocket Dogs, and Mias. Trust me, I never pay full price for anything. I worked in retail long enough that I know everything goes on sale, if I want it that badly, I will wait for them, or it wasn't meant to be.

I rarely wear patterns on my clothes, I keep my clothes down to just a couple of contrasting colours. I have decided to go back to my roots of only wearing black/red/charcoal gray everything occasional accents on other colors, but basically those. I'm so boring. *sighs*

He's not so much into them anymore, but for years Jon had a closet packed with Abercrombie & Fitch shirts & sweaters.

But he wouldn't be caught dead in an A&F store. Every piece he owned came from thrift stores and yard sales. He targeted A&F because, frankly, the quality is excellent. The shirts are comfortable, fit him well, and looked great.

He never pays full price for anything if he can help it. Exceptions being underwear, socks & shoes. He wears a size 13 shoe, so it's hard for him to find decent used shoes in his size anyway, though he lucked out and we found a pair of Doc boots for $5.00 at a sale once, in his size. That was an amazing find.

He's not so much into A&F anymore. T-shirts yes, sweaters & long-sleeves, no. So he doesn't search out A&F at yard sales or thrift stores anymore. But you can find TONS of them because the rich snots who buy them brand-new only wear them a few times before they can't be seen in them anymore and get rid of them.

Girl, me, too. If I'm not wearing black or red, it's probably because whatever I wanted wasn't available in those colors.

I venture into purples, but rarely anything else. Except in summertime. I wear all sorts of colors in the summertime. I go from pretty cliche'd punk/goth to hippy-dippy almost. Jean shorts and cotton babydoll tank tops in all sorts of colors & patterns.

Exactly. I don't have a problem with labels, other than thinking some of their patterns are hideous, but if others find them cute, more power to them.

I own a lot of designer clothes, and I also own a lot of stuff from Walmart and Target and thrift stores. Who cares?

Where is this rainbow place? Do they sell plus sizes? Is it like a thrift store?

I don't care for name brand clothes a whole lot.

I have thought about buying some shirts by a company like Hollister for example. Then taking the shirts, dying them black, pulling off some of the letters, crossing out the words with fabric paint, covering the shirt in demonic imagery, maybe add something about child labor for the fun of it, adding zippers, putting holes in them and sewing a different color fabric underneath. Basically take some well-known "preppy" shirts and "goth" them out, make them look even more DIY and confuse people.

I wear what I like, if that happens to something by Alexander McQueen or something that doesn't even have a label on it from thriifting I DON'T care.

Saying you refuse to buy clothes because they are made by a label is just as pretentious as saying you won't buy anything but something horrible expensive from a label.

I wear what I like, what looks good on me, most of the time both of the above but not always

What matters to me is that I can look at my wardrobe and see my personality come out in my clothes, something that consist of more then Jeans and T's ( and yes black).

Even if that Emerald green A line doesn't look as good on me as it does on whoever, I FEEL great in it. And that is what is truly important. Not how much I payed for it.
