Der Nister
I'm still having log in issues and it's really starting to be a pisser. I have to log ing twice and then when I "think I'm logged in" and go to post, after spending time typing and hitting reply - I'm told to fucking log in to use that function. WTF!!!!! I do not have that problem on any other web site. Can this be fixed?????

Troy Spiral (13)
Cookies are board-specific , so the problem with other websites isn't always relevant , in the way that say.. checking lag between websites is, unfortunately. Its irritating , believe me i know. For every 5 minutes of irritation anyone has with board problems I've had 50 hours. Its an ages-old issue that will eventually come up on any cookies based (which is pretty much all of them nowadays) website. This problem will never be totally solved, completely , for all users, because its browser, rather than server based in nature. Just note that there are at any given time, 1 to 20 users logged in just fine, yet there is almost always at least 1 user that has the can't stay logged problem. Unfortunately , that implies its a problem on the client end. People hate hearing that, but its just the way it is unfortunately. Usually called the "Can't Stay Logged" problem. Message boards with a lot of user activity are were this problem is noticed most often because its not something that matters all that much on other websites, nor do things like browsing amazon.com cause the kind of cookie-checking that being on a forum causes. (not as often) This is a fairly common problem where virtually everyone can login just fine, but a few who were logged in just fine all along, randomly just cant seem to stay logged in anymore. For several random reason there is always a few browsers the refuse to take the new cookie right away when the cookies on the board are changed/updated and keep trying to login with the old one. Sometimes this happens without any changes to the board just due to cookies expiring / renewing and getting screwed up. (you need cookies so the website can give you custom info, and remember your settings etc.) The result is either you cant login at all (usually it LOOKs like your about to login after you put in your info... then, it just logs you right back out again) and then other times you are able to login , but right after you post you get booted. Sometimes it can be hard to get rid of the old one (due to various reasons to many to list). The first thing to do (without clicking on ANYTHING on the website) is to delete your cookies. Unfortunately sometimes DGN gives out all sorts of funny-named cookies so just deleting the one thats called "detroitgohtic.net" wont do it. Then also delete all offline content so that your browser doesnt accidentally get a new cookie from your OLD offline version of DGN. Then close the browser and open it back up again. Sometimes (again for lots of weird reasons) you have to do this twice or more before it finally "takes". There are lots of different cookie related settings that can help, or make this problem worse depending on your situation. Mismatched / expired / etc cookies are almost always the problem with the "can't stay logged" problem because that is they key to staying logged in.
