Setting fire to the leaves in our yard with my brother while my parents were out. We'd see how big we could let the fire spread before putting it out.....except then it got too big. We had to get buckets of water from inside the house and then try to cover up all the blacked areas in the yard.

Ah, the memories.

When I lived in Georgia, I was famous for stocking the car up with lots of good driving CDs, and jetting off by myself (or with a few people, if I bothered to tell anyone I was going) to Tennessee (it was only an hour away, but the scenery got amazingly prettier with every mile driven away from my town). Not very extreme, but still fun.

NOt necessarily to cure boredom, but for a change of scenery, my husband and I drove from the Daytona Beach area down to Key West. Thing is, he had a bad memory, and thought the trip was only 3 hours.

9 hours later... we were dirt poor, and couldn't afford a motel room. And we were HUNGRY. And all the food was really expensive.

Luckily, the local Winn Dixie was closing their deli for the night, and they were selling off all the hot foods super-cheap. So we had a buffet of hot deli foods, many of a Cuban variety that were very tasty.

We were going to sleep in the car overnight, and head home the next day. But for whatever reason, we decided to just go home.

9 hours later...

What a fiasco. And I can't tell you a damned thing about my only trip to Key West, 'cause we didn't do anything except find some food & go home.
