Dude, I know you'll be fine. Things are starting to seriously calm down there. I just talked to some people that I was deployed with that still have contact with the unit that replaced us, and Ramadi, is getting a landing strip for C130's. Thats something huge. Ramadi, the worst place along side with Baghdad, is getting so garrison that they can get a flight line.

If you can find out what part you are going to, let me know via PM or something. I can give you the down low about it. I mean shit, when it's time for me to go again, I might as well have a secondary house in Iraq!

From a two-time Vet, I've seen the change, and it's neat to know that you'll be apart of history. Just walk in there with open eyes, and an open mind, and you'll be fine.

Best of luck to you, Champ. Like I said, lemme know whats going on.

Man, that is good news.

I'm glad to hear things are calming down over there.

Hey everyone, thanks for the comments. Yes I'm having a blast in germany... no I've not gone to any clubs yet... I found a low key bar/diner right off post that sells some of the best beer and food ever... just the other night I ate wild boar...

The friend I was supposed to meet (who was all for it) just all of a sudden stopped talking to me as soon as I got here... I suspect some of my stalkers had something to do with it since my ex fiance is trying to get me to go back out with her. So I've lost my first pipeline to network new friends over here. But I'm slowly making up for it by hanging out at this bar and the ocasional people my age come in.

As for Iraq... thanks for the concerns but I'll know I'll be alright. Last time i went i had to sleep ontop of a truck in iraq in rather not so well secured areas 6 nights a week and could only shower once a week... along with other problems like sleeping in a tent with 30 guys...

The place I'm going to has an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor swimming pool, a theater, and a few internet cafes...

come to think of it... that sounds a whole lot nicer of a base than where i'm at now!

I'm thinking next time I get a 96... er 4 day pass... I'll see what I can find for clubs now that I've gotten a good start at a gothic wardrobe. Just I can't find any pants I really like here...

But all in all, I'm getting better acces to the internet now, I just got my own lap top finally (lets hope this one doesn't catch on fire) so i gotta find a decent spot that gives a high enough speed for wireless internet. Until then if anyone would like, just send me a PM with your phone number if you haven't already done so. Take it easy ya'll... I'm slowly getting my shit back together.

OMFG!

You are going to be stationed in Balad, Iraq. AKA: Camp Anaconda!

You are going to be in the MOST peppy place in all of Iraq. Watch out for Brass, it's a full blown salute zone.

You have: Burger King, Baskin Robbins, Pizza Hut, Sub Way *open 24hours*, Taco Bell, Popeyes, and two Uber Large PX's.

Enjoy your vacation!

No kidding, we used to send people there for r+r. They called it Mortar-ita-ville that is until they found out we were from Ramadi. After that they just went, "Oh... sorry".

I'll never forget Sgt. Grossmann when they locked us down in the PX for "incoming". In as sarcastic a tone he could make he yelled, "Red alert! Read alert! the chow hall is out of ice!, lock it down people!" The soldiers stationed there were not amused.

THATS the name of the place!!! My god I could never remember it, i just know it's on a total opposite spectrum of what my first experiences were in Iraq. I'll probably still be on a very high strung edge the first couple weeks just because of memories however, the darker side to this is... I'm in the bastard job zone, I'll be working too much to really enjoy much of those things. That and all the fucking brass walking around... from what I heard, the fuck stains there get you in trouble for stupid shit because they have nothing better to do...

So If possible, I'll be volunteering to GTFO of that place just to get away from all the big wigs if possible.

 I'm probably going to get yelled at for this, and you know what that would be bogus if I did because this is seriously true: It's not so much that Germany (Europe) knows how to breed them, it's that unlike over here they don't feed them. Well at least not what we feed people over here, they definately don't have the same weight problem as America.

They also heard of things like treadmills and apparantly we're lacking that area also.

Oh...and Germans are teh sex. That too. I know German girls are the sexy-hott 'cause I'm one of them.

I'd so go for the food. I can't even think of where Nuremberg (my God, as someone who is supposed to be able to speak German, I sure spelled that wrong) is, but I hope you're having fun.

So when are you gonna fly us over, huh? (j/k)

When I was there it wasn't so much the way they ate, as the fact that they actually walk or ride bikes places, while here in America we have to get in our cars to go 30 feet to check the mailbox.

KBK, glad you like it there. Germany was fun to party in!
