So, shaving off your entire eyebrows is perfectly fine?

I haven't had eyebrows since February 2007.

No, she's talking about the people who draw their new eyebrows all the way down to their nose, in particular. Maybe it's not a common practice, but we knew someone who did it. It made her even uglier than she already was, and that's not even including how ugly she was on the inside...

Kinda how we (overgeneralizing) murdered the Indians and their entire way of life and took a hairstyle that goes back into prehistory? Sub point: the style is believed to be taken from the Wyandot Indians which were mistaken by white men as Mohicans.

If we want to pick a westerner English speaking subculture that adopted the style and the was later "ripped off" by another western subculture... the practice of westerners with mohawks was adopted by WWII airborne units and it became a distinctive "warstyle". Later being somewhat popular In Korea and Vietnam. Then being ripped off by various musical subcultures. Not that I know shit about hairstyles per-se, just a history nerd.

Not picking on ya or anything, we just need to be careful trying to claim any particular style as unique to us or a given subculture.

Well said, Troy.

These fashion violation threads are always amusing. There's definitely a lot of styles I've seen in the clubs, as well as out in the "real world" that don't float my boat. Crocs, Ugs, over sized raver-kid pants, girls who wear electrical tape in lieu of a bra who really need a wee bit more support than that, the whole ICP make-up look, the whole ICP anything really, flip-flops at the club, 99% of tennis shoes at the club, gold shoes (flats or plats, I just don't get it), wearing any sort of wings to the club unless it happens to be Halloween(also kinda rude to everyone who is trying to dance around you and keeps getting hit in the face by them!), pajama pants in public, sunglasses indoors, the ever-present "Too Much Ass, Not Enough Skirt/Pants" syndrome, trench coats, Crow-esque make-up... seriously, I could go on for hours. It's all a matter of personal taste. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. What I think looks like shit-on-a-stick, you might think looks like a ball of schexay.

The one thing I will say that I miss is the more widespread creativity with outfits that I remember from when I started going to City about 10 years ago. Girls sewing ENTIRE outfits (corsets, skirts, legwarmers etc.) just so they would have something that was uniquely theirs. DIY that went further than safety-pinning some pseudo-ironic quote to the back of a Tripp skirt. Guys who had wild hair and make-up (And wore it well!) Bring back some creativity rather than just showing up in a thong, electrical tape and boots!

Just my .02, take it as you will.

..well put, yes...entirely accurate..not so much.....the American-Indians were not the only Tribes to cut their hairs in such a fashion...though in all cases it can be traced to pre-history...like the Celtic Nations... :dry:Just sharin'.;)

  • 4 weeks later...

Speaking of pants worn so low that the underwear is showing, it looks even more ridiculous when the pants aren't baggy.

Morbid and I were at a fast food restaurant in California last week, and I saw a white guy with the pants hanging off the ass look, but instead of baggy pants he was wearing the neon blue skinny emo jeans that Hot Topic is pushing, or at least was a few months ago the last time I stepped in there. I had a hard time waiting until we were outside to laugh.

Ahhhhh, yes.

I have also seen a guy sporting this look, recently. The super-low hiphugger cigarette leg jeans, pulled down to where they just covered his root, and his little jockeys showing from the waistband down. For some reason, I thought of Mango (from SNL). All he needed was a foppish little hat, to set it all off. :stuart:

Yeah.. Underwear belongs under pants.. Not poking out of the top.

{unless you are a hottie working in a bar or something, trying to make money.. :p

& even they should cover it up in other public situations}

People who shave off half of their eyebrows then draw them back on and making them go down to their nose.

Yeah....uh...I have partial eyebrows. I have to draw them on.

I hate to see people in ill-fitting corsets. If it doesn't fit, nor do what it is SUPPOSED to do, DON'T DO IT. And, this:

With the summer coming I am sure I will see plenty of sandals with socks. This is so wrong, pick one, summer or winter.

So am I weird that I think Birkenstock or athletic-type sandals actually look better with athletic socks than with no socks?

For dress sandals, yeah, lose the socks. Also, for women, if you're going to wear sandals without socks, you'll look infinitely better if you paint your toenails. Though I'm guilty of the unpainted toenails faux pax right now myself.

People who are confused in their fashion. Recently at CC, I saw a chick with a backwards baseball cap on, a more "normal" outfit and the furry boot covers. She was goth from the knees down, and I don't know what from the knees up.

Just curious..

What do you all think of open toe/open heel shoes on a lady, with stockings? My opinion is, it depends on the sheerness and knit of the stockings, and the height of the heel.

P.S. Painted toenails, or acrylics, are definitely a plus.

I pay wayyyyyyy too much attention to shoes and feet. I'm a freek.

I think it depends on the style of shoe and like you said, the sheerness and knit of the stockings.
