Did You See Tom Cruises Scientology Video Yet?

Recommended Posts

I've done a fair amount of reading about Scientology. One thing i like about it is that its "clear" (no pun intended) and doesn't have the ambiguity of other religions, and the roll-your-own aspects of most religions are less present in it.

I disagree with a ton of aspects of it. But like any such thing, there are positives. Dianetics in particular has a lot of interesting stuff in it. (A lot of what seems like half-assed science as well, but we are talking about a religion here, not a pure science, so all bets are off.. unfortunately.)

That tom cruise comment they've been quoting on the news channels like mad is unfortunate. He should have said "...the only one that IS really going to help." not "can". Nothing I've read about Scientology suggests that only scientologists can help the world. The idea of the "KSW" (Keep Scientology Working) thing he mentions over and over again is a reference to the suggestion that your expected to get off your ass and go "help" people if you are able.

One thing in that video he alludes to is "leaders" asking him (hushed voice) "...so have you met an SP?" What hes referring to there is what they call a "Suppressive Person" basically meaning a destructive force in the world (people like adolf hitler given as examples) that can be determined somehow supposedly , by Scientology.

I think the reason why its an easy target is that there just aren't as many Scientologists as there are say Christans/Musliums etc. and their "Fundamentalist" beliefs don't have the political / social protection that more established religious (seemingly to irrational) concepts do. I'm all for putting a negative spin on unscientifically substantiated claims, but that would cover most all religion in one form or another.

all that and L. Ron wrote it all down from some vision in the early 50's....

we are all just escaped alien political prisoners hiding from the evil space overlord.... on my.

BTW, this video was a recruiting video to be played at one of thier "churchs". It was not meant to be played to the general public.

L. Ron Hubbard was a world class con artist. I actually feel sorry for Tom Cruise; he more than likely genuinely wants to help his fellow man. Unfortunately, he also appears to have some form of neurosis that, coupled with an unhealthy disdain for psychology and psychiatry that Scientology encourages, is causing him to behave in ways that are damaging to his career and his family.

I hope he can find some measure of balance, soon.

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.
