I thought that bitch would never die.

Given the pic of her I saw in the New York Times, I'm suprised she didn't die sooner. She looked like a coronary waiting to happen. But then I suppose if you don't beleive in having sex, you never really get your heart going like that.

Pat Califia put it best when s/he said that if Andrea Dworkin had her way, sex would consist of topless women dancing in a circle for a few seconds and then imediately falling asleep -- you know, in case somebody did something oppressive, like HAVE A FUCKING ORGASM!

humans are humans, and death is death. she was entitled to her opinion, just like you all are - should i rejoice at the death of everyone i disagree with? it makes me sad that she was apparently so misguided, but it makes me sadder to hear people say, "im happy *insert name here* is dead!"...

and no, i haven't read her work - but that's beside the point, imo...

I don't so much rejoice in her death as I rejoice in her not being able to spead her insane ideas around anymore. I said I wasn't suprised by her death as she was a very unhealthy person (very obese and inactive).

And she is entitled to her opinion but her opinion was also hurtful and harmful to woman's rights. Harming others is not something you are entitled to. I do not support the vociferious and unfounded views of a woman who loudly and rudely proclaimed that all heterosexual sex was rape, no woman could conciously concent to sex with a man and that all mem were culturally and biologically prone to and enjoy rape?

And that is about all I have to say on the subject.

Geez. So much venom at someone who basically expressed unpopular opinions.

I'd never heard of the woman before this thread. And what I've learned of her via this thread makes me roll my eyes that anyone can be so misguided. But I can't help but think people are going overboard harboring some pretty ugly, unhealthy thoughts when all they really need to think is, "she was misguided, and I did not agree with her."

Kinda reminds me of the "Hate" thread.

Why don't you? It's great fun -- and anyway, what are they going to do about it? They're dead! :-D

it makes me sad that she was apparently so misguided, but it makes me sadder to hear people say, "im happy *insert name here* is dead!"...

Why is that? After all, humans are humans and they feel all these lovely emotions toward other humans -- be those others dead and alive. It's no less human to rejoice over another's death than it is to be saddened by it.

I disagree. I feel that your assessment that Dworkin was simply "misguided" is probably the ultimate understatement.

She was willingly ignorant.

A simple google-search (or, if you're me, a look-up in the Pride Encyclopedia) will reveal that she was just a victim of sexual abuse on a rampage against her chosen scapegoat with no real evidence to back up her claims.

I'm not truly happy she is dead either... but death was the only way to shut the bitch up.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I totally agree!

She may be dead, but her crapola parading around as a study of society and the effects of porno and how gay sex encourages violence against women is still in print!
