Eight Killed At Scene Of Street Racing...

Recommended Posts

I feel for them, but why would you go step into the road? I street race and there are (beleave it or not) do's and dont's to it and you DON'T go running into the street after the cars take off, thats just plain stupid.

Come on, man, there are rally fans who will actually wander out onto the rally track for a better look at their favorite drivers coming down the lane. They count it a point of pride if they get sideswiped and live, or even just get pelted in the face with a rock thrown up by their rally pro of choice.

Marc has it right, people are just stupid.

Isn't that what I said?

Now, as a libertarian, I am skeptical of most laws. I abide by them, but I certainly think that society can reduce the level of oversight on the individual, in most respects.

That being said, illegal street racing is illegal for a reason. And yet, this could have happened at any private track, as well...

No it couldn't. OK... with serious difficulty it could. Tracks keep spectators behind fences that are generally a long way from the track surface. They don't allow spectators to be where the cars are. So, yeah... there are freak accidents where the car manages to go around or over all the safety barriers, but these days, that's extremely rare.

When two or three tons gets moving at speeds exceeding 140 miles per hour, bad things can happen. Strictly speaking, yes... a bunch of morons right alongside the roadway, that does not happen at private tracks.

I think this is really not a disagreement, at all...

    • I am currently floored.   FedEx did a massive 6 box delivery to the wrong address.  I had an autoship order scheduled to arrive before this past weekend.  Nothing showed up.  I contacted the order site and they had a link for the order...a photo of all my boxes thrown in the snow and up the sidewalk of a residence that was not mine.   You would think that at some point, the driver would have looked at the delivery address after they kept throwing box upon box at this location with no shelter from the elements.  They didn't even knock on the door to inform the residents that massive 65+ pound boxes were left all over their walkway.  Nope.  Just dumped them, took a photo as they were walking away and left.   I wonder what the person who found all of those misdelivered boxes must have been thinking when they saw them.  Maybe they kept everything to use, distribute or sell.  No idea.  No claim was filed on that end as of yet.   Fortunately for me, one of the sites that I ordered from, replaced everything at no extra cost.   Unfortunately, now I'm concerned for the other items yet to be delivered.   Needless to say, I'll be watching my notifications like a hawk.
