Okay, so JavaJoe has an inoperable cancer tumor on his neck.. at the time it was found, he was given only a few weeks to live.. he has lived for 9 more months.... is there any foods that we can give him that will give him an extra energy boost, and help him gain a little more weight? (he's eating fine, and poo-ing fine, and is still alert and happy... he's just slowing down a little, from it, and what not... we wanna make his last days/ weeks/ months happy ones) Keep in mind he can't eat dry food, because of where the tumor is, it makes him choke... so it all has to be pretty soft....

I would say maybe a little metacham(it's a form of pain medication, liquid ofcourse).. it will take away some of the pain and discomfort that he's feeling .. also i know that anti-depressants give kitties the munchies but I don't know how big his tumor is on his neck so he can swallow the pill.. Good luck ^_^ I hope he is comftrable, and when the time comes to put him down please do not torture him too much..

no, no... cats usually know when their time it up, and are usually pretty expressive about when they are ready to go. (but we know not to rely on solely just that... we keep an eye on him, so that we know he's not suffering.) He's doing great. He's not lethargic, eats fine, potty's fine, even goes outside and plays with the pigs. even for his age, he's doing great.... so yeah. if the pill was crushed up and mixed with soft food, would that work? and where can we get this Metacham? a vet, i assume? and thanks. :) I think that he's more awkward and uncomfortable, rather than in actual pain. i mean when we pet him, we can touch the tumor, and what not... its not that big, its just where it is... that's what causes the choke, when its not soft. he can still purr and breath, and drink, and like i said, eat soft foods. and boy does he eat, and he lets us know when there isn't anymore food down... lol

The pill I belive is bitter so the cat's dont eat the food if it's in there. And yes the Metacham is only available at a Vet's. It's a small bottle and you give him one drop on the food or in his mouth daily and it just perks him up. Also the anti-Depressant makes them cheerful lol. If he is getting skinny try feeding him kitten food or a/d (science diet's formula for anorexic kitties it just fattens them up), he might not be getting a lot of food because of the tumor.. I don't know what condition he is so I can't tell you exactly what to do. Having him looked at is probably best.

My kittie is afraid of pop rocks.

Any of us eats them and he freaks and runs out of the room, especially if we open our mouths. I guess he is thinking.....they are eating LIVE bugs or something! I gotta get out of here before they start puking!

Its funny, don't really need advice, just wanted to share.

I have a cat named Kelsepher. She's about 8 months old and not fixed. And everytime my cat lays with me on the couch or in bed, she bites and kneads the blankets, purring all the while. And if I dont stop her, she'll do it for 5-10 mins. straight. Why does she do this?

Umm because you need to get her spayed :wink . Sounds like she's starting to go into heat, those are the usual symptoms, sometimes they howl too and rub on EVERYTHING. She will soon start to bolt for the door if she knows that there is some Tom(male) cats in the area.

Also when they are in heat for a long period the will get pyrometry(an infection of the uterus which fills up with puss and eventually ruptures, very deadly), also if she breeds with an out door cat, her chances of catching FIP,FIV, and Feline leukemia are very high (these diseases lower their immune system , it's the equal of having HIV in people).

Please don't let her breed with a cat there are already too many homeless kittens in this world. :X

So talk to your local shelter, or your vet see if you can find a good deal to get her spayed. I hope everything works out!!!

So like I've mentioned we have 4 kittens up for adoption.

3 males and 1 female, they ARE EXTRA LOVING, come spayed/neutered, de-wormed, all their shots, feline leukemia and FIV tested (negative of course). They only need a loving home. The adoption fee is $120 , so we can just cover our costs. I know that a neuter or a spay is well over over so $200 so if you ask me your getting a deal.

If you know anyone that's interested please message me or post here.

Thank you!!!

The orange one has been adopted (sorry) but in his place we have a black and white one he is very cute and has a VERY LOUD motor ^_^.

Their names are Zeus,Apollo,Hermes and Aphrodite.

*Reason for edit I forgot to mention one was adopted already*

post-188-1214454693_thumb.jpgI have question i adopted a cat from the Humane society in April. I love her moe then anything but there is one thing that I want her to stop doing. If I am walking around she runs away. If she sees me coming in her direction she runs. The only time she doesnt is when she is on the bed. I know she loves me because she follows me around. She sleeps with me and will lay with me in bed. But if i approach her other wise she darts behind the couch. I love her and want to play with her how do i get her to stop running away from people especially me.

For some cats is difficult to gain trust. Especially if something has happened with the previous owner. Try picking her up more, this will assure her that your not trying to harm her. Unfortunately some cats never stop this behavior. I have one cat that runs away from everyone, but whenever she wants she will let you pet her. IT took her 4 years for her to allow you to pet her.

Also try introducing her to toys and play with her more often. It just takes time and patients, and females tend to want attention on their own time. Good luck !

My old girl kitteh is like that..I've had her for nigh onto ten years, and she is still janky about particular approaches and body language.

It took me MONTHS to even get her to come near me when she was feral; she still craved human contact in spite of herself. Finally one cold night, when I set the food out for her, she jumped right up into my coat.

She taught me VOLUMES about trust, love, and patience.

Try laying down on the floor where she can see you, belly up, and winking your right eye. This is a kitten "mommy I love you" posture. ;)

You may also want to try picking her up and holding her as long as you are in the bed. Say the word "bed" over and over to her, so she associates the cuddles with the word. Then try getting you to come to her away from bed while saying the word to her. Having a treat handy will reinforce her trust. This REALLY works, trust me. Cats are smart enough to associate words with behaviours and rewards.

P.S. Anytime a cat winks its right eye at you, that means "I love and trust you."

Well I think smudge would beg to differ, he is gay....gayest cat in the universe!

Trust me on this...he no likes girls just boys.

Crystal has a new way of telling me her litter box is NOT to her liking...she rolls turds around on the floor dowstairs until I see it...leaving nice smears...

And I scoop it EVERYDAY! Sometimes I can't get to it until late at night...and this pisses missy priss off!

She also now gets in my bed with kitty litter paws if its not done by 3pm and I dunno how she manages to only get it in my bed when its full, but she does...all the way up stairs and across the house and up into my bed, litter all over if its dirty and only if its dirty...I tried using two litter boxes but they INSIST on sharing....

Mine still does this too sometimes.... she is more intimidated by people standing up and coming toward her. Try crouching first and calling her over... at least my cat found that less intimidating. You're more on her level.

Chango the Destructo-Kitty does it again! He got up on the stove and splattered cooking oil from a pan all over himself (no it wasn't hot, he knows when the stove is hot and won't jump up then). So for the past 2 days Chango is walking around with greasy spiked fur. I am REALLY not up to trying to bathe him... is there any other way to de-grease him? I thought about rubbing him with some absorbent powder like cornstarch or cornmeal... maybe rice powder- isn't that what they do for oil-spill birds? Any ideas are welcome... if all else fails I'll recruit Tokagemaru to help bathe him (my kitties adore T. and will let him do just about anything to them... that's one reason I knew he was a good guy). But that's definitely a last resort.

The cornmeal would be a better choice, as the cornstarch may clog up your cat's digestive system, if you don't get it all brushed out.

I'm wondering if even some unscented natural-type kitty litter would work. Maybe scoop it over him while he's lying down, like a spa treatment. Then brush it out. This is what I use to soak up excess oil in my driveway, so it may work on a cat.

You may want to try some "pet-wipes." They are sold at most pet suppliers. I use them on my cats with a lot of success. My kittehs are always laying on me, and I use shea butter lotion, so they tend to get a bit greasy. The pet wipes do a great job of fluffing up their coats again.

Or, if those don't work--

This is the ABSOLUTE BEST grease-removing cat shampoo on the market:

House Of An-Ju products are the bomb!

You may be even better off to save the hide on your arms, and take him to a professional groomer. ;)
