Kay, to reiterate, the big cabin, which holds 20 people, costs $80 a day. SO if we were to get, theoretically, 20 people in that cabin it would be $4 a day, and would equal out to be ONLY 12 dollars for the whole weekend. How cheap is that?

For people who are interested in the family cabins, they hold 8 people and cost $60 a day. So if you were to get 8 people in it, the price would come to $7.50 a day per person, and would cost like $22 ish for the whole weekend.

I believe that a tent site is $12 per day, I didn't look up how many people can technically stay on one tent site.

I'll be calling them either tomorrow or Friday to make the reservations. I'm freaking excited.

TELL EVERYONE! The closer we get to 20 people in the cabin, or if we get a full 20 people in the cabin, the cheaper the the cost.

Like if we were to get only 10 people in the cabin it would be $8 a day, or if we got only 5 it would be $16 a day (at that point, we might as well get tent sites at that cost, which is why I'm doing all of this so far in advance)

This is going to rock...HARD.

The only thing I haven't looked up is parking, which usually costs a dollar amount per day, but if people were to carpool and everyone in that car were to throw in a little bit, I'm sure it would come out to being very cheap.

I will have finalizations on Friday, like I said, and reservations made (for the cabin only, tent sites reservations can usually be made at the last minute. I won't wait until the last minute obviously for those, I just want to make sure I can snatch up the big cabin for that weekend before anyone else does).

I'm down for that. And I can get one of those days off also. Plus I can bring some supplies too, but I won't be able to carpool people there alot, because I would have to leave the second day to go back to work and come back out there after work. Well now that I though about it maybe I could do a few people, as long as their along the way.

The trailer we have. A hitch isn't something you can rent though. It'd be a couple hundred to buy one and have it put on my car. Imma ask my brother if he'll let me borrow his truck for it, but I'd doubt it.

Just look in parking lots for a nice hick truck with a hitch... then return it to the parking lot when you are done with it... just say "yeah i tripped over this on the way in"

they will probably know who "lost it" and return it to them... (can you tell i grew up in a farm town?)

SO....I have kinda sorta bad news. If we are to do camping...there will be no cabin camping, only tents.

I just got off of the phone with the DNR and they've had all of their cabins booked LITERALLY for all summer for a few months now.

What that leaves us with is tents, which personally I like better and is easier to manage, imo.

How the tent sites work:

There are 65 sites available and I can arrange them to be right next to each other, so we're basically like a little goth commune in the woods that will undoubtedly...make other campers go "WTF?" It'll be totally sweet.

There are four ADULTS allowed to be on a tent site. Children can obviously come too, so it works like there is able to be one family unit (two adults, x amount of kids) and then two more adults on that same site.

If there's no kids then it's just four adults to one site. Simple like that.

Each lot has electricity and on the campground sites are modern showers and toilets so that, no, nobody will have to take a dump in the woods, unless of course you're Crank and want to :tongue:.

It's $19 a night with an $8 registration fee. So if we were to get there Friday, stay overnight and then overnight Saturday and go home Sunday it would cost $46 per lot, breaking it down to eleven dollars per person for the whole weekend. It does NOT get cheaper than that!

BUT...if we want to go home on Monday, the whole weekend would cost seventeen dollars per person for the whole weekend.

Parking is six dollars per day so three day parking would be 18 bucks, but if you carpooled that would cut down costs (I may be able to run and pick people up near the westside, or on the way, we would have to arrange something)

Personally...I'd like to stay until Monday. BUT the good part is that since we'd each have individual lots, if someone didn't want to stay until Monday they could have me make the reservation end Sunday, for instance. Or if you couldn't make it Friday and wanted to come up on Saturday, that would also be fine. It makes the schedule very flexible by having tent sites.

You can even make a cameo appearance and stay just ONE night if you want! That would be fucking CHEAP! Just $27 total, between four people, is just dollars.

So....here's the important stuff:

I will be messaging everyone individually who responded at all in this thread who showed any interest. Since I want to make tent reservations as soon as possible, I will need to know if you're serious or not. If you don't think that you can save SEVENTEEN DOLLARS before July...please don't say you will go. That's all I ask. The reason for this being that if I make reservations for a lot, and you guys cancel, then I'm fucked for $18 dollars no matter what. Even if I cancel way in advance, no matter what, there's an $18 dollar fee that I will have to pay.

OR...if you say you're serious and you have three other people on your lot and then you don't show up there would be no way to get your money, and once again, I would have to foot that.

SO...what I think I"m going to do to make sure that I don't get screwed, is ask you individually how you plan on paying and when. If you say to me "I'll pay upon arrival" I must REALLY have some trust in what you're saying, so we would need to discuss that.

I mean, I"m not a total cheap skate and planned this trip knowing damn well there's a good chance I'll have to swallow some costs out of the goodness of my little black heart, but if I get stuck with three whole lots cancelling and an extra fee of like $50 something dollars...well....Chernobyl's gonna be a MAD little panda. If one whole lot cancels and I get fucked for $18 only, then I'll live. But I don't want a TON of people being like "yeah I'll seriously go!" and then bail, leaving several lots empty that I have to pay the cancel fee for.

I prefer if you pay me in advance, that way everything is in and nobody has to worry about anything and it's all taken care of. I REALLY WOULD prefer advance payment to cut down on some stress on my part.

I can give my address if you want to send me a check or money order, and I also have a paypal account. If for some reason you pre-pay and the trip gets cancelled somehow (hypothetically speaking you'd have a better chance of getting abducted by Elvis while being struck in the anus by a lightening bolt because this trip is SO going down. I would have to be mangled in another car accident like a week before in order for me to cancel, that's how gung ho I am), then I will DEFINATELY refund every penny of yours in full obviously.

I will be PMing people probably either later tonight or tomorrow night after 4 pm. If, however, you have questions before hand you can obviously PM me anytime you wish and ask away (or you can post your question in this thread).

This sounds like a great plan! Why not set up a PayPal account for the trip and send invoices to everyone?

Yay, since I'm a secretary, I <3 your beauracracy! I'll do something similar to that, I already have a fairly dormant paypal account set up, so I'll use that one. Or like I said, if anyone wants to send a check or money order to my address that will also work. OR if you live in someplace that's NOT bfe, I can possibly drive to you and get the money. Then we can sit at your kitchen table and drink tea all afternoon :gathering:

I will say that, I am disapointed that there are no outhouses.

I love waiting for the opportunity...the perfect time...when an unsuspecting DGNer goes in there in the night to poop...and a lurking Chernobyl goes WHAM and runs into the side at full force...tipping it and spilling poopy outhouse guts EVERYWHERE.

I'd so be there except I'm performing out at the Silverleaf Renaissance Faire this year. I haven't signed the contract yet so I'm not supposed to talk about it, but I'll be doing a stage show. Yay!

How about a DGN trip to come on out and see me? I'll post more details when I have them in its own thread. Battle Creek is a bit of a drive, but they do have camping out there.

Oh, and too bad you didn't pick Bald Mountain. I could bike there if I wanted to. A long bike ride, but doable. Maybe next summer.

This is something I would really be interested in, but I feel a bit akward since all the people going seem to know each other very well and I'm still a newbie around these parts. I don't think any of you live Downriver, so carpooling is not an option for me. I have an Explorer, though, so I can drive myself there. I will run this by some of my friends and family and see if anyone would be interested in going.
