MARCH 30: IS GOD TOLERANT OR JUDGEMENTAL?

APRIL: IS GOD PRO CHOICE OR PRO LIFE?

APRIL 13: IS GOD THE GOD OF ALL RELIGIONS?

APRIL 20: IS GOD HOMOPHOBIC?

We've talked about all of these subjects here in DGN.

here's a chance for you to get an inside look at the church's position on these heavy subjects.

I dont know what my Pastor is going to say, or how he's going to lead this series, I really don't.

Maybe you will get your thoughts confirmed that the church is archaic and divisive and needs to be done away with.

Maybe you wont.

Maybe your curious about what sort of church a "Christian" like Steven goes to and teaches at.

Maybe your not.

but this series being taught (and all series that aret aught at my church) are for the general public - this has always been our stance.

if yrou curious, come down and make up your own mind. nobody's going to hassle you or single you out. dress the way you want, nobody cares. smoke if you want (outside) nobody cares. Be who you are if you come - nobody is asking you (nor will they ever) to be somebody else.

there are two services per sunday throughout the series - 9:30 am and 11:30 am.

I go to 11:30

that is all.

If these are for the general public, it seems like you might get some skeptics in the crowd. Especially if you''re inviting people from here. That being the case, how about sermons on:

1. Does god exist?

and

2. Why does it matter?

The other sermons are moot if the person listening isn't convinced that god exists and has some relevance in their lives.

we've had them Marc - on specifically those subjects and lot more like them. I'm sure Rocky and Dave (the pastors) will bring that stuff back as well.

One thing Connection Church tries very very hard to do - is to cover topical subject matter that is relelvent to the life and times of everyday people. Although its true that alof of chruches just crank out the same old same old - this one definately does not. We beleive that there is no purpose to the church if it cannot first serve the community, and that the church in essence really belongs to the community and even the unbeleiver, before it belongs to us, lets it become a clickish social club. We also put alot of focus on creative arts - we use alot of songs, skits, dance interpretations, stuff like that. Its actually pretty cool.

if your ever curious come on down, we often do mexican afterward and you can meet The Lola and help me quell that viscious rumour that my wife is a figment of my imagination..... :)

forgot to add on the "Moot" thing: I agree. some people come because they disbeleive and it helps them feed their fire. SOme change their minds along the way, some dont, some are just curious as to how and why "chruch" works, etc etc etc. We just do our thing, all we really want people to do who visit is to relax.

So, how does this work?

Do they talk about the subjects during the service or is it after?

How long is service?

Does your church like babies (well, they don't have to like all babies, just mine, cuz I'd be bringing them)

I'd be interested in going. Guy and I actually, unfortunately, have to find a new church - ours is just WAY too far away now.

wake up, brush your teeth, come to church, sit with me and Lola and our homies.

the topics of discussion - are what the sermons are actually about. so you just kick back and relax and watch it all unfold before you.

The church uses alot of different ways of ministering there, sermons are mixed with songs, skits, etc etc etc. They use secular and contmporary music. I once did a nickleback song at church because they asked me to (called "beleive it or not") because the song covered the issues of struggling with faith really well, so they cranked the electric guitars and I did the vocals. During that teachign series the stage (its BIG) looked like a world war II scene, with blown out buildings, barbed wire, smoke, etc...because the 4 week long series was on the Battles of our Lives.

anyway - they have a truly great child and youth program there. the child program is divided by general age groups (the facility side for th kids is very big and very cool). When you check in yoru children they do a digital phot ID and card that goes with it, and they ID you as well, so that no strangers can ever come in and snatch a kid. If there is ever a problem with a child they will silently put the childs paretns names on the big screen during service so that yo know yo need to come back and check in. The kids do all kinds of crafts, games, teachign, music (last week they had soap box derby) etc etc etc, and the teenagers have their own coffee hosue with a music stage and kick ass equipment and lights and stuff.... its all jsut very well run and organized and safe. Very healthy. Very fun.

they also have a section for the little bitty babies, and toddlers, and a nursing room, etc. Marblez goes there and she brings her twin babies.

I guess (never paid attention) service is about an hour and a half.... we always go to the 11:15 service and go munch afterward.

We would love to see you and Guy - that would be cool.

Sunday morning... virtual impossibility pretty much.

Impossible? Impossible?

Thats what they said to the Wright Brothers...

and when the Germans bombed pearl harbour....

and when Ireland landed on the moon......

and when William Wallace took the Alamo.......

(you know Troy, we often do mexican food afterward....)

Hey I was at this church before! Not this past Christmas but the Christmas Eve before last. Dang, has it been that long??

Usually I feel very uncomfortable in new churches, however no one swarmed me when I went to Christmas Eve service at this church.

wow. I'm quite sure I was there when you were....wish I'd known....

Actually it's funny, because I saw you go up to the front to "receive" (I can't think of a better word, forgive me) those that wanted to come up there and in my head I thought, "hey that's Steven!" I was there with my friend Beth Mills.
