Interesting article. Covers both the embryonic science of Cryonics (similar to the suspended animation of Sci Fi films, assumed by many to be an eventuality , rather than a possibility) and Anti Aging as it exists on the cutting edge of science. Some might say the bleeding edge...

Cryonics:

"The principle of cryonics is that people who are cryopreserved are not necessarily dead," he said. "This is not bringing people back from the dead. This is a form of critical care. We know for example that there are many cases of children falling ice or frozen lakes and having their hearts stopped for an hour… and being revived and resuscitated and being absolutely fine with no side effects because they were cooled down nice and quickly."

Anti Aging bio science:

Dr. Aubrey de Grey is a respected, yet controversial, expert on the biology of aging who developed his theories at Cambridge University in England. He believes age-related diseases will be eliminated altogether, stopping aging in its tracks.

Hes actually not so controversial in his claims, just in his 20-30 year timescale. (Considered to be far too soon)

Highly suggest reading it rather than just using my little blurbs and extrapolating.

There is this...

M-State (Ormas) Metals and their odd properties

there are some weird side affects... but real m-state gold is known to stop aging and even reverse some affects... but it also seems to turn off your emotions.

Even if your not into anti-aging... there is really cool physics involved in this stuff.

Wow. That's extremely interesting stuff. (and a bit scary if it does what it says).

I'm going to have to read through that whole website tonight - fascinating.

I am all for helping to cure diseases and such, but freezing someone in the hopes that they could come back, is ridiculous to me. People aren't meant to live as long as they say this might help them do. The oldest living person to date was 120. This says that people could live to 150 in the beginning stages and when it's all finished people could live up to 1,000 years or more. We think that the world is over-populated now? Sheesh. Just wait until people start living that long. Then we will have MAJOR issues.

Prolonging life is technically interesting, but it makes you wonder why so many people fear death and going when their body naturally gives out.

I don't fear death per-se, but the world is such an interesting place if i have a choice between living on (at a decent quality of life) I'll pick life. I like relationships & learning. Which , I'm doubtful continue after i die. If we could live longer, we would learn more, and society as a whole would benefit as well.

I am on board with the idea that "holding on" long after any decent quality of life is available borders on the ridiculous and can just be downright sad and gut wrenching to see in people that so fear the idea of death that they'll keep a loved one in a deplorable state for a long, long time.

pfft. We will still have war, murder and suicide. I am betting suicide rates would jump a biut if people started to live to 1000.

Not necessarily. The rate would go up naturally just because of the fact that we have more people. That goes without saying. We have war, murder, and suicide now and the world is still over-populated.

We do need Cryonics or Futurama will have never happened.

You and Futurama. LMAO!

I would rather see our technilogical intelligence go towards making the quality of life better than prolonging life.

I would hate to live 1000 years, or even indefinitely...it's one of my biggest fears in life.

I'm not afraid of dying, just that the people whom I love don't know how much I truly loved them when I pass.

There may be so many things that I would love to do with that extra time, but it would make me procrastinate even longer about doing them, because I knowingly would have MORE time.
