(the Original) Star Trek Returns

Recommended Posts

Me too.. been a long time though... but there was a time.. Star Trek was my life.

Yeah i kinda miss being immersed in it. Was like a coocon. The stuff i'm intrested in now just seems to get me into arguments on a level unheard of in star-trek lore discussions hehe. I just spent an hour reading about the borg last night... wtf, i must be regressing. I was trying to remember what happened with that whole "borg are taking over earth" storyline and how it worked out... didnt realize how fully they have weaved the borg into the cannon, even back to the original series.

I will say this once, and only once.

And I will deny that I said this.

But when boys talk their Star Trek it's totally hot.

Hah. Cought!

Although i'm thinking maybe someone other than Sass is actually at the computer. Boys talking about Sci Fi stuff i thought was like an automatic minus -1000 hot points. Thats partly what got me out of it truth be told.

hah. Hearing him say "Space, the final frontier" still gives me goosebumps after all this time.

Yeah honestly i felt really... impressed? I guess "goosbumps" is probably the best way to describe it. I had the volume cranked up (and the speakers are pretty good here) and it really had an impact on me i wasn't expecting.

Haven't spent much time thinking about star trek in ages.

Oh yeah Troy, it happens now, to an extent, (I have seen it wear-off after the conversation reaches 'that time limit'.)

...I have a theory, about how our faces must shine with a youthful GLEEM...

that now-a-days..... seems to excite the ladies...

Now I know it's early but, I am not watching this alone, and I will be grumpy if I don't have blue-berry-pancakes with whipped cream on them, and wait in line to see this movie on opening day....

....and by the way the last 2 movies I saw at more than $2.00 a seat were Transformers... and Braveheart....

But this..... WOAH...But I will miss Shatner's melodramatic flair.....

Hah. *understanding vibrations*

Gaf--so glad I was not the only dork in N. America who watched DS9.

I still feel tingly when I hear the DS9 theme song.

All the star treks have massive followings, (even Enterprise, which by far is the least liked). DS9 is slightly low on the totem pole , but the DS9 fans are still legion. Defiantly not alone. =)

I just want to say... Star Trek is/was the greatest thing that Television has ever given us.

Why?

Just on a technological side.. way back in the day... they "predicted" so many of the technology we have today... or did.

3.5 Inch floppy disks are almost exactly like the data disks Spock used.

Cell phones... Comunicator?

Blue Tooth head sets... what ever that funny thing was in her ear...

and many more...

then there we the Social issuea the show tackled.

First ever Interracial Kiss.

The moral problems faced in EVERY episode of every series... The social ills they faced...

Star TRek is the definition of GOOD TV

I have a feeling (like everything else lately) once Enterprise gets on DVD, I will probably watch it and be glued till the end of the series. I sometimes hate not having TV.. *shrugs*

*drools over all the Star Trek posts*

Yes, if anyone wants to know, I am a Trekkie. I used to go to conventions and everything..

One of the reasons why I should have known my ex and I were never meant to be was the fact that I hid all this stuff from him. On our last move together, he accidentally ran into one of my old boxes (i couldn't let go of), and he discovered my old collection of autographed pictures, and Star Trek paraphernalia. I was like.. well I did mention that I was a nerd in my previous life.

He said "NERD?!?! you never told me it was THAT deep!"

*Shrugs*

I love Star Trek.. TOS is the best (in my opinion), but I loved them all.. till recent (Enterprise), but it's only cause I have a hard time remembering to turn my TV on at certain times to actually watch things when they're supposed to be on. TIVO was invented for people like me.. or on demand. I mean COME ON Scott Bacula as the Captain of the Enterprise?? who here didn't love Quantum Leap?

I never thought he was that much of an attractive man, but I would have STILL done him for the cool factor..

Ok Ok, I'm a trekker, I admit it. When I can find the pic, I will post a pick of the transporter mock-up I built and used for displays at a local movie theater and a few conventions. My friends and I sewed movie era costumes and wore them for the display. Have also done Star Wars costumes for said theater when the 3 movies were reissued to the theaters before the release of episode 1. I have tons of the models from Trek to build. Had a bunch of the Playmates toys, resin props and such. I have met basically all of the main stars from the original series, most from TNG, a few from Voyager and DS-9. Not bragging, mainly just got autographs although did get to sit and talk with the late James Doohan for a while. Just showing how much of a SciFi geek I am. I hope the movie does well, The Trek franchise needs a good kick start again. Btw, Avery Brooks is coming to the Motor City Comic Con on May 16th, 17th and 18th at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, Mi. Gonna start a thread for that with a stars listing for those interested. Off I go to start the thread....Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning.

I don't think Paramount owns Star Trek anymore... I think CBS bought them.

The first teaser trailer and posters for this film showed it's original release date, December 25th, 2008. On February 13th, 2008 Paramount Pictures pushed the film to May 8th, 2009 so it would have less competition and be a summer blockbuster contender. The teaser trailer has now been amended to show Summer 2009.

Paramount still owns Trek.

Paramount is a subsidiary of CBS, so both statements are true depending on perspective. =)

    • I will say it isn't all bad yet though.  We survived four years of the orange asshole.  We might survive another four.  All is not lost, until it is. There are those on that side that are going to do everything in their power to take and keep that power though.  Instead of the illusion of a one party system masquerading as a two party system, it really will just be a one party system.  People are talking about actively moving out of the US and renouncing their citizenship, or revolution if it comes to that. The woke and DEI scare tactics of the Russians, Chinese, and others have set in.  They have been trying to debase the USA for decades now ever since the world wars and I think  it's really starting to pick up steam.  All isn't lost yet, but it's currently 90 seconds to midnight, and that number is decreasing all the time. We just have to wait and see.  If people hit their breaking point by losing their comfort and convenience (and possibly their food/housing) then people may be held accountable for their misdeeds. Also the president is now a convicted felon so...  LOCK HIM UP!
