Hair-color Suggestions

Recommended Posts

Ok, normally I don't make goofy posts like this, but I am sick of my hair the way it is, and I'm curious if anyone has any (legitimate) suggestions for a color to try.

I will most likely be going to some job interviews in a few weeks, so it has to be a somewhat natural color (i.e., no pink, blue, etc.) or colors.

I have pale skin that has both pink and gold undertones, and green/blue eyes. I refuse to dye my hair all black, and any shades that I've tried with violet or plum tones in the past look horrible with my skin. Other than that I can pull off just about any color.

I'm thinking of doing something darker because my hair is naturally pretty dark and my current reddish blond has to be touched up like every 3 weeks.

Any ideas?

Ha. I was going to start a thread for you....

You current color, as boring as it may be, really compliments your skin tones and eyes. I would keep it in the same color family (ie reddish, but darken it up, as you've said) I don't like black on you.

The black is a wig; and usually my skin isn't as light as it is in the avi pic, I was really close to the camera when he took that, so the flash washed me out more than usual. But I agree, I don't want black.

I was thinking about something along the lines of this:

which is bright auburn with a few streaks of dark honey blond, that I had a little over a year ago. It's just so hard to keep the red looking really red...

I think you should go with a bronzey red, with auburn-ish and Deep golden mixed in.....

This would make the green in your eyes pop, and I believe it would give your skin a warm summery look.

:yes

I think the black hair is HOT, but definitely an on occasion kinda thing.

Use a color guard conditioner every time (Dove makes a great one, so does Pantene) and leave on for about 5 min,

Be sure to use cool water with the conditioner as well.

I disagree with the use of the Dove. Pantene is okay. If you're willing to spend the $$$, buy Pureology. Your hair WILL NOT FADE. It's not cheap. Even at my cost, I have a tough time buying it, which is why I bitch about fading. If I go back to red, I'm totally investing in it.

And Kit Kat.....

The red henna is nice. But henna is a bitch to get out of your hair, should you change your mind!

Thanks for the input, everyone.

Right now I am torn between the bright auburn that I mentioned earlier, and medium bronzed brown, which I had at this time last year. Maybe some of you remember that. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of that that I can post.

Yes, that's is very close to what I have in the picture I posted, and I really like those colors on me, it just requires a lot of maintainence and expensive shampoos to keep the color from fading.

Bright reds actually make my eyes look bluer, though, blond or brown brings out the green more.

BTW, I love all the colors you have in the pic you posted in Suzqz's thread. I wish I was in a position where I could do something like that, but alas, I think it would make it almost impossible to find a job.

Thanx

I have to wear a scarf or bandana on my head at work, but they know what it looks like. I am blessed to have the job that I do have.

That pic does not do the color justice.....

I have had it for three month and it is still bright.....

Next I go true Rainbow!!!!! :animier:

I love the hair color in that pic of you. It's so pretty and so flattering to your skin tone. Wish I could carry that color off!

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok, after much debate I finally wound up with bright ruby red hair with chunky streaks of copper and a little gold. I really like it and I hope I can keep it from fading too fast. The base color came out brighter than I was expecting, so I just went with it.

I'll post a picture when I get a chance.
