CixWicked
Oooh, Local bands: Relik - We played with them and KITTIE, and I gotta say I -loved- them. Wow. Razorkasket Others Not Equal (Now called None Other) Soldiers of Scrape Self Infliction The Power Source (Of Course) Yankeyville (I do like some country now and again, even though my ex is boning the whoel band. Er... I mean, engaged to the sax player... APPARENTLY NOW YOU CAN HAVE BOTH!!! Ain't love grand?) Seigemachine (And not just cause it's my brotha's band) My gripe... Detroit metal bands in general, forget how to sing. They catch a dominant squat, and grumble out line after line of incoherent poetry in Grover voice. I'm not saying all of them, I mean RSP, and Relik, for instance have awesome vox, but from what I've seen, playing shows it's kind of a rarity. In anycase, I -love- detroit music. Ooh - I will have to keep up on that and bring the husband to go see them. Thanks. My first-ever local show/band: Goober & the Peas at Paychecks in probably 1990. Ahh, memories... Fierce Critter
OMFG OMFG OMFG!!!! There are not only George Bedard videos on YouTube. But there are also ones by FRANK ALLISON!!!!!!!!!!!! target="_blank target="_blank Quick trivia: What now-famous Detroit rocker did a spell on the Drummer's stool for Goober & the Peas? Answer: Jack White of the White Stripes (Similiarly to Spinal Tap, Goober went through a host of drummers for a while...) Cix first off, Cix...it's not fair to Kiss Red's ass like that...you know damn well that, with Misconcieved being the highest drawing local at Harpos, and getting invited back to Ritz...that you will soon be able to pick any show you guys want. and yes brother...I hear your gripe..and I agree.....the field is littered with growling, egotistical bands that don't know how to sing...which is why bands like Misconcieved, Chaos Theory, Relik, and other come up and Dominate...because they show ppl that metal isn't clearing your throat for 30 minutes over a mike. Simon Bar Sinister
DJDeadbeat said: 800Beloved (simply beautiful stunning post-punk, they remain mind blowing with every listen) are they still doing anything? I saw them at last year's DallyInTheAlley, and they went down a storm...but there were (at least to the best of my knowledge) no follow-up gigs. :( still love the Twistin' Tarantulas, and I've heard that the Twilight Babies might crank it up again. I'll believe that when I see it, though. I wish Bird Plus Magic hadn't (seemingly) packed it in when their bass player left.
