South East Michigan Food Cycle

SE Michigan Food Cycle is very similar to FreeCycle for FOOD, but has many other added benefits. We really want people to OFFER food that they no longer are using in their cupboards. You are welcome to screen and pick the neediest person that responds if you choose. This group was started when someone was getting weekly shipments of large amounts of perishable foods from a non-profit in Ypsilanti called SOS (see www.soscs.org) and they gave away the perishables when they did not have enough needy families ask for help. This person started posting on freecycle, but decided it was best to post to people specifically looking for food, and it is a HUGE need with the Michigan economy!!!

This group is different in the way that you can post the common WANTS and OFFERS, but you can also offer and ask for specific COUPONS for food, post great FOOD SALES you see at a store, post info for SPECIALTY STORES that you think should be known about, offer a TRADE of ITEM OR SERVICE for someone to buy you specific groceries, and postings of non-profits and food banks in the area and their guidelines for people to receive help. Reviews of food stuff is welcome too!
