Lots of this lately>>>>

Jumping to your death or crashing your car......

OUCH!!!

Nothing like surviving it I guess with injuries.......

When I was like 12 I cut myself but not deep enough to do much damage. I guess I was a cuter berfore cutting was cool. That time I actualy wanted to kill myself. Thats the only time with cutting.

I may do it now but not deep at all and only to swap blood (I prefer it to pokes) or in a mild s/m b/d session...or just.......to feel the new skin sting more as I like stingy feelings (it gives me a rush and makes my spine tingle.

But I did do too much drugs once to try to die........it just made me feel awesome.......

Thats about it.

That was when I was like 22, never did it since.

I don't really have a problem anymore but have to watch it during Febraury as I have a bit of S.A.D.

There appear to be quite a few depressed peoples here in Michigan.

Woman survives fall from bridge over I-75

HAZEL PARK - A Berkley woman survived an apparent suicide attempt last week after jumping from the Orchard Street pedestrian bridge onto the I-75 expressway. The woman fell as far as 25 feet to the pavement, police said.

"She had sustained some serious injuries," said Hazel Park Police Lt.

Michael Kolp. The event occurred at about 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5. Police received several statements from witnesses who recounted seeing a person falling onto the roadway from the arching bridge, which crosses the Interstate just north of Nine Mile.

Police found the woman lying in the right lane of northbound I-75, bleeding heavily from the face and head. One passing motorist stopped and held the woman in an effort to calm her, according to police reports. As officers approached, the woman reportedly said, "I just want to die."

Paramedics were called to the scene and the woman, 38, was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont for treatment.

Police interviewed a Madison Heights man who was at the scene at the time of the incident - a friend of the injured woman. He told police the two were in a car together when the woman asked him to stop at the foot of the bridge because she wanted to take a picture with her camera phone at the top.

The man told police that by the time he turned his car around he saw the woman climbing a fence that lines the sides of the bridge. He said he ran toward her and called out to the woman but she jumped anyway.

He gave police at least some background information about the woman, including that she had recently been discharged from a drug rehabilitation facility. He told police the woman did not make any threats of suicide prior to the incident.

One expressway driver watched as the woman leapt from the overpass and reported that she was forced to swerve to avoid hitting the woman on the ground. She and another driver stopped to help the woman.

"We had some independent witnesses that saw her jump," said Kolp.

The woman's condition was not known at Madison-Park News' press time, though police reported the woman underwent surgery and her injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The suicide attempt from a bridge is the first of the year but not the first in history. Police have recorded a number of attempted suicides from bridges that cross I- 75 in Hazel Park. There are 13 bridges within the city limits.

"It fluctuates dramatically," said Kolp. "Some years we won't have anything, and others we'll have one, two or three incidents."

A number of bridges in Hazel Park are fully enclosed by a fence, others have arcing fences or simply a vertical fence. The bridge connecting Orchard Street is not fully enclosed.

Police are investigating. You can reach Staff Writer Jeremy Adragna at jadragna@candgnews.com or at (586) 279-1101.

Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the United States, and the third leading cause of death among young people ages 15 to 24, although the suicide rate is higher among senior citizens than any other age

Woman tries to kill herself by

jumping off bridge

MOUNT CLEMENS — A 27-year-old Mount Clemens resident jumped off the Crocker Boulevard Bridge after her attempt to drive her car through the guardrail failed.

“According to the witnesses, it appeared she tried to run her car off of the Crocker Bridge and when it wasn’t successful, she exited her vehicle and jumped into the river,” said Capt. Anthony Wickersham with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident occurred at 2:30 p.m. on April 13. Wickersham said that the woman jumped into a shallow part of the Clinton River, which is approximately 20 to 30 feet below the bridge.

“She landed closer to the bank,” said Wickersham, adding that for that reason, many of the injuries the woman sustained were from “trees and stumps.” He also said that she suffered a head injury.

The woman was transported to Mount Clemens Regional Hospital. Wickersham wouldn’t comment about why they woman may have attempted suicide, but did say she left a note.

“We don’t have an exact reason, but we did find an apparent suicide note in her home,” he said.

There is much shame and embarrassment that goes with suicide. It's nothing that I am ashamed of. These desperate feelings are part of the human condition with many people. I'm human. I've thought of suicide because of extreme chronic pain issues I deal with on a daily basis but it is not what I want. Just saying you want to kill yourself is enough to get you in a Psychiatric Ward very quickly and it stays on your file of what facility you were housed at. I now feel I can handle what is handed to me, I don't have any other choice. Life is precious to me but when things get excruciating you often want a way out. You have to remember that the pain is temporary and it will ease in time. I just don't see it as the answer for myself.

I do not judge people for killing themselves, it was their life. It's considered selfish to some, heroic to others. Making the ultimate decision to exit when you are ready to. Now that I have a niece, it has given me more incentive to be stronger and carry through this for her as much as myself. I want to see her grow up. My family is small and I do not plan to have children. She will need someone to be there for her. I plan to be an integral part of her life. Life is way too short as it is. I'm never going to help the process be sped up.

My cousin jumped off of the 275 and Ann Arbor Rd. over pass three years ago, he died quickly. Obviously he was hit by several motorists after the jump. I have known way too many people who have done so. I've known people who have tried so many times, leaving people to think it is for attention, then on the 9th or 10th attempt they do succeed. It leaves you never really knowing if it was accidental or what they really wanted. My niece's grandparent's both committed suicide within 12 months of each other, a little over a year ago. Now she just has one set of grandparent's at 2 years old.

I tried to starve myself once.. i lasted about two days (may have been longer).. *sighs*

That is by far, probably the worst most dragged on painful way to try to die... but I figured I was fat, and I wanted to look skinny in my casket..

this was a LONG time ago. *hides head in shame*

I haven't, but I think most everyone has had those kind of thoughts. It's a sign something needs changing in our life.

One pattern in life I've noticed is that the saying it's always darkest before dawn is often true.

Things usually hit bottom before they get better. I remember reading about several suicides where they inherited money or things turned around for them, only they didn't outlast the pain long enough to find out. I might seriously consider it if I were in constant pain and there was no hope of recovery, but I'd rather be strong enough to shake my fist at the demons and fight till the end.

Most often it seems to me a selfish and cowardly thing to do, because of the effect it has on even your casual acquaintances, and the devastation it leaves behind for closer friends and family.

Short answer, no!

I might consider it if I had a terminal ilness that caused me to be in constant pain, but ultimately, yes, I do think it's a very selfish thing thing to do. I have a pretty strong opinion of suicide and attempted suicide, but I'll stop here so as not to offend anyone.

Too into myself to ever consider the idea.

However:

I might consider it if I had a terminal illness that caused me to be in constant pain

And amen to:

Most often it seems to me a selfish and cowardly thing to do, because of the effect it has on even your casual acquaintances, and the devastation it leaves behind for closer friends and family.
