Fierce Critter
OMG. It looks like a horrible collision of hospital gown and the Polyphonic Spree. It does NOT look like it does in the pictures from eBay. That's always a problem when you're buying plus-sized clothes that are modeled on non-plus-sized women. You have to try to realistically guess how it's going to look on yourself. In this case? Not good. Not good at all. Well, it doesn't help that the color is not the rich silver it looks like in the photos. It's actually very light, almost white. Sigh. The event is on May 4th. I really don't know what I'm going to do now. I got two other dresses at the same time that I got that one, but they're short sundresses. Not something I want to wear for a renewal of my wedding vows. I do have the blouses I bought off the same eBay seller a couple months ago. I think I'm going to go check out stores like Dots and see what kind of peasant skirts might be available that I can wear with one of those. And now I'll need new shoes, too. I won't be wearing silver after all and I won't be able to wear the ones I got off eBay. This sucks because we're financially tight right now. Sigh. :(
Destroit
Awww...that sucks. It's happened to me too buying something off of ebay. It was weird, the girl in the picture looked about the same size as me, I bought it, and it ended up being really loose in the stomach (I like really tight shirts, I hate loose-fit anything, it's uncomfortable). You should try Deb. They have alot of fancy style stuff for cheap, especially if it's past homecoming or prom season, all of those gorgeous dresses drop down to MAD prices. Whenever there's a wedding or something fancy coming up, I drop by Deb in the mall. I can go in there with 50 bucks and come out with like 3 shirts and 2 skirts. I like their clothes too, it's the only preppy store I will walk into, because they have a lot of stuff in black and stuff that is just inherantly "gothy". Also, the ENTIRE left side of their store is Plus Size. I used to shop on that side of the store about two years ago and now I'm over to the right side of the store, on the average size or whatever it would be called. That's another reason I like them alot: No matter what your size, they got what you need and the store is specially set up to meet those needs. TygerLili
Bummer! I know you were looking forward to that dress. Is there any way you can fix it up a little by tying a sash around the middle or maybe draping a scarf over the hips or shoulders. Might make it seem a little less shapeless, especially if you add something with prettier color. Or, you probably don't want black, but just about any dress can look good with an underbust corset over it.

Fierce Critter
May 4th how cool is that thats my anniversary too... Actually, our anniversary is on October 25th. This is a special mass at my parent's church where they celebrate anyone who is having a landmark anniversary in the whole year - 5th, 10th, 25th, that sort of thing. LOL - I considered for a nanosecond putting my underbust corset on with one of these dresses. But it's REALLY not suited to church with the black leather and buckles and studs and all. LOL I have options, but they're just not "that" dress, you know? I was looking forward to wearing it in particular.
Nienna
Is the dress something you could tailor to fit you better? Or is the issue the fabric? Because I could make it fit you know...
wingdazrael
Oh man, that is really lame about the dress. If the dress is a natural fiber you might be able to dye it down to the silver color you want really easily. Deb is a good suggestion for something quick. I also go to Fashion Bug sometimes. One of my friends just picked up a cute interviewing outfit from Dress Barn, too. Also, Kohls is having a big sale and clearance.
Miranda
Well, unfortunately these things occur once in a while. Although disappointing, I am sure you will find something to wear that you will love. It's been so warm lately, the peasant skirt idea sounds wonderful. SuZQZ
How disappointing. I hope you find an alternative that you are really happy with in time. Good luck and keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Fierce Critter
I was in Ann Arbor today and checked out a couple stores on Liberty that carry India clothing. Didn't find any peasant skirts, but I still have to check out local thrift stores where I usually see bunches on the racks. Got a plan B, though. A JoAnne's I was in today had some decorator fabrics in a very nice transparent burgundy lace pattern with a finished, scalloped hem, and another fabric that was a nice silvery grey. I can get a couple yards of each, double them up and throw in a quick back seam & elastic waist and have something that will match the burgundy blouse I have on hand. Then I'd still be able to wear the silver shoes, too. Trying to sell the original dress on my Yahoo lists.
